Review: The Travises Series by Lisa Kleypas

Travises Series by Lisa Kleypas

I've decided to do a review of each of the books of this series in one post! I enjoyed this series so much as you will be able to see in my review! I also picked up a couple of new Book Boyfriends along the way. ;)

Book 1 of the Series: Sugar Daddy

SHE’S FROM THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TRACKS
Liberty Jones has dreams and determination that will take her far away from Welcome, Texas---if she can keep her wild heart from ruling her mind. Hardy Cates sees Liberty as completely off-limits. His own ambitions are bigger than Welcome, and Liberty Jones is a complication he doesn’t need. But something magical and potent draws them to each other, in a dangerous attraction that is stronger than both of them.

HE’S THE ONE MAN SHE CAN’T HAVE
When Hardy leaves town to pursue his plans, Liberty finds herself alone with a young sister to raise. Soon Liberty finds herself under the spell of a billionaire tycoon---a Sugar Daddy, one might say. But the relationship goes deeper than people think, and Liberty begins to discover secrets about her own family’s past.

WILL THEY FIND THEIR HEARTS’ DESIRES OR WILL HEARTBREAK TEAR THEM APART?
Two men. One woman. A choice that can make her or break her. A woman you’ll root for every step of the way. A love story you’ll never forget.

You really find yourself feeling for Liberty while reading her childhood. It's not an easy one, but she is surrounded by people that love her. One of the neighbors is a boy by the name of Hardy Cates, and he soon becomes a person that she can rely on. Liberty definitely has some challenges, but she kept her head up during these hard times for it shaped and molded her into the woman that she became. Life soon points her in the direction of Churchill Travis. He is a rich and successful man that has 4 children that are the main characters in each of the books in the series. Gage, Haven, Jack, and Joe Travis. Liberty soon finds herself butting heads with Gage and this soon turns into something unexpected. Let's just say that Hardy Cates shows up when you least expect him to!

I loved that Liberty was a strong female character that had a good head on her shoulders. I enjoyed the 1st book of this series and found myself flying through the pages to see what happens next. I'm giving Sugar Daddy a rating of *4* Bells!

Thank goodness I had the next book because I couldn't wait to start it!

Book 2 of the Series: Blue-Eyed Devil

MEET THE BLUE-EYED DEVIL
His name is Hardy Cates. He's a self-made millionaire who comes from the wrong side of the tracks. He's made enemies in the rough-and-tumble ride to the top of Houston's oil industry. He's got hot blood in his veins. And vengeance on his mind.

MEET THE HEIRESS
She's Haven Travis. Despite her family's money, she refuses to set out on the path they've chosen for her. But when Haven marries a man her family disapproves of, her life is set on a new and dangerous course. Two years later, Haven comes home, determined to guard her heart. And Hardy Cates, a family enemy, is the last person she needs darkening her door or setting her soul on fire.

WATCH THE SPARKS FLY. . . .
Filled with Lisa Kleypas's trademark sensuality, filled with characters you love to hate and men you love to love, Blue-Eyed Devil will hold you captive in its storytelling power as the destiny of two people unfolds with every magical word

Hardy Cates is all grown up and taking care of business in Book 2 of The Travises Series. His life is completely different from the one when he was a boy. His affiliation with The Travis family is not a good one, but he is still connected to them through Liberty from Book 1 of the series. He soon meets Haven Travis, the only daughter of the Travis Clan and their story becomes a complex one. Haven finds herself in a difficult situation that a lot of women unfortunately find themselves in. With the help and love from family and friends, she soon begins to heal. She also heals from the love of Hardy Cates. Hardy quickly became a Book Boyfriend because he wasn't afraid to show his true feelings and because he is hot! So hot that I included him in one of my Monday Smutty Goodness posts. You can read it here.

I loved the low's and high's of this book. Hardy and Haven are completely opposites, but you find yourself rooting for them. They belong together and compliment each other in the best of ways. I'm giving Blue-Eyed Devil a rating of *5* Bells!

I loved this book so much and Hardy rocks my world! Once again I happened to have Book 3 of the series on hand and was able to dive right into to read about the next member of the Travis family!

Book 3 of the Series: Smooth Talking Stranger

HE’S ONE SMOOTH TALKER…
A billionaire playboy, and all-around ladies’ man, Jake Travis has a reputation as big as the state of Texas. He drives too fast, lives too hard, and loves too many women to count.

SHE’S ALL BUSINESS…
In her advice column, and her love life, Ella Varner is always practical. So when she’s left holding her reckless sister’s baby, she decides to ask Jake Travis to take a paternity test.

THE TIME FOR TALKING IS OVER....
Ella is instantly struck by Jake’s bold good looks and easy charm—but she’s not falling for his sweet talk. This big sexy tomcat needs to take responsibility for his actions, and Ella’s making him stick to his word. Now if she can only ignore the unspoken attraction that smolders between them…

Book 3 of the books pulled at the heart strings so much that I found myself tearing up and laughing with joy while reading it! This book focuses on the middle son Jack Travis as he finds himself in an unusual predicament. Ella Varner shows up to his office one day with a baby that she says is his! Jack is calm, cool, and collected when dealing with the situation and I loved that about him. He wanted to get to the truth of the matter and you find out how charming and levelheaded he can be. He has the reputation of being a playboy, but you soon find that all it takes is the love of a good woman to bring out his true character. I loved that Ella was intelligent, independent, and is normal looking woman. She wears glasses that are always smudged up and Jack just finds that adorable. I found myself smiling while reading of Jack's attraction to her. She is the complete opposite of what he is used to and he finds her absolutely adorable. Not only does he care about the predictament that she is in, he also cares greatly about what was going to happen to the baby right after he realizes what Ella is dealing with. The scenes of Jack interacting with the baby were so adorable and I found that to be so sexy! It's things like this that made me add him to my Book Boyfriend list right away. I also included a Smutty Scene for Jack in a post if you'd like to read it here. I have to say that the smex scenes in this book were some of the best that I have read. There was a level of intimacy that the author touched on that just make them great.

Smooth Talking Stranger is my favorite of the series and was such a joy to read. I'm giving Book 3 *5* Bells!

This book was so good that I bosom hugged it when I finished it. Tears were rolling down my face and I was an absolute mess! I'm actually tearing up while thinking about it. Lisa Kleypas will make you fall in love in love with Jack Travis! His character is so good hearted that even the most cynical, man hating woman would stop her hating and believe that there are good men out there that can love unconditionally! This book easily became my favorite out of 3 and ended the series on a beautiful note!

So there is one more sibling in the Travis family and his name is Joe. I'm hoping that the author writes a book for him because I want to read more of this family! These have the biggest hearts and truly care for other people.

I am now a huge fan of Lisa's books and will now be checking out her Historical Romance titles. She has a couple of different series and I can't wait to start reading them. I'm going to prepare for this by having a big box of tissues on hand for when I need to cry. Crying can be a good thing, especially when making you realize that there just may be good people left in this world who care for others as much as themselves.

I want to take the time to thank my lovely Twitter friends Andrea and Donyale for telling me about this awesome series! If you have any recommends for any great Contemporary Romance titles let me know! It's refreshing to read something other that PR and UF!
