door. But when Maddie calls him over to help fix her faulty sink, he’s a
goner. Too bad the fiercely independent interior designer wants nothing
to do with him. Even worse, he’s forced to rely on the advice of his
nosy brothers—and his five-year-old nephew!—to figure out how to make
her give him a shot.

Okay seriously... Who would think a plumber can be hot? I had no
idea!!! Now, I don't have a leaking sink but I am wondering how can I
get it to leak? *smirks*

This
new series by Marie Harte was not only cute and entertaining but HOT!!!
Harte brings just the right amount of humor, steam and romance any
romance reader would enjoy and totally swoon over. I loved the town, the
brothers and the girls next door. All the characters are likeable and
enjoyable enough to not want to put this hot read down!!

Flynn
is the guy next door who can be a tad wild and he just wants to have
fun (who can blame him). Maddie, who doesn’t want to fall into anything
after things went a little south. You wonder if
they can actually make it or just cut their losses. All the characters
are likeable. They were very well written I must say.

This
new series is fun and super hot!!! Throughout the book you will find
yourself laughing out loud and grabbing a glass of ice water. It is the
perfect start to a series I don't think I could have ever lived without.

I have seriously added this WHOLE series to my
must read list. Well done Ms. Harte!! Keep the boys next door coming
because I just cant get enough!!
Brotherly Love

There’s nothing quite like family. I’m fascinated by family dynamics, and I confess, envious of larger, close-knit families. I wanted to write about people tied together by love and friendship as they set out to find—or in the guys’ case, get caught—by romance.

Enter four rough and tough brothers. There’s the oldest, Mike, who lost his soulmate years ago but managed to soldier on. Flynn, the charmer, who everyone likes. Brody, the troublemaker, and the unofficially adopted member of the clan. And Cameron, the youngest, and the white collar professional having a hard time fitting into his blue collar family. Then there are James and Beth, two people who love each other and raised four strong, strapping sons.

I love how each brother is different. Of course, they’re all quite good looking. *grin* But there’s more to each than bright eyes and a square jaw.

In The Troublemaker Next Door, Flynn meets his match. He’s the easygoing McCauley, thirty years old and the middle child. He’s confident, funny, and sure of what he doesn’t want in a relationship—something permanent. He wants what his parents have, a happily ever after. But the women he’s been dating never measure up, so he keeps his heart safe by not taking any woman seriously as more than a sexy friend.

That’s until Maddie Gardner throws him one serious curve.

What adds to the romance is the relationship the brothers share. Cam has recently moved back to the West Coast, and now all the McCauleys can gather for poker night and family picnics. With their parents also living so close, the love and laughter is always there.

Brody’s a card cheat, but he never gets caught. Cam can select the best wines for you while investing your money to make you rich. Mike makes everything better, the big brother with the heart of gold. But he’s not afraid to put a guy in a headlock to make his point. Flynn has a smile and a joke for everyone, but he goes down hard when he falls for a redhead who only wants to keep it casual.

Oh, and did I mention Colin McCauley? The youngest of the lot, he’s Mike’s six year-old son. The boy can cry on command, has been known to do magic making money disappear, and has three devoted uncles and one huge father protecting and loving him. The chemistry between brothers (and nephew) resonates, because how wonderful would it be to know that no matter what, someone always has your back? Support when you need it, and a never-ending source of camaraderie.

The poker night scenes in this story are some of my favorite, because the guys like to razz one another, and you get a better insight into who they are.

Sexy brothers. What’s better in the world of romance? Especially when each brother gets his own happily ever after?

Thanks for having me!

When Worlds Collide

Okay, I confess. I’ve been reading romance novels since I was in high school. I know, I know, I was probably far too young to be reading “those books” back then, but I fell in love with them from day one. (I also learned about the birds and the bees from a romance novel, but that’s another story!) I was always a big fan of anything historical, but particularly novels set in the Victorian world. You know, lords and ladies, London and the season. It was all so wonderful!

Ah, but the thing is, I was also a huge fan of the tv show Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman at about this same time in my life. That and I went to see Dances With Wolves four times in the theater! Anything western had me captivated. The energy and excitement of the Old West and those people brave enough to tame it thrilled me.

It was only natural that at some point in my wild, overactive imagination I would bring those two magnificent genres together. I thought to myself, what if London society met Old West adventure? What if a British lady fell in love with a Montana cowboy?

That, my friends, is how Fool For Love was born.

Sometimes we tend to forget that these two exciting worlds existed at the same time in history. The bright, sparkling world of titled society with their social rules and mores existed on one side of the Atlantic, while far across the waters and half a continent the rough and rugged world of the frontier was going strong. It is highly likely that these two ways of living actually did come into contact with each other.

The world that my heroine, Amelia Elphick, comes from is one that my hero, Eric Quinlan, doesn’t understand. He looks at the way people behave and the way they treat one another and thinks it’s ridiculous. At the same time, London is busy looking down its collective nose at him, thinking he’s the one acting strange. But when Eric offers to help Amelia out of the ruinous situation she finds herself in, it doesn’t matter how odd his ways are. She accepts his help.

I have tried my best with Fool For Love to show the vast spectrum of life that existed at the end of the 19th century. It was a dynamic time, when electricity was becoming commonplace, distances were shortened by technology, and both sides of the world were on the verge of a sparkling new century. It was more than just Amelia and Eric’s worlds that were about to collide. Life as everyone knew it was about to change. That is the world that I have tried to share.

Blurb:
Eric Quinlan was born a cowboy and a rancher and intends to die a cowboy and a rancher. But when his ranch is in danger of failing, he travels to the wilds of London looking for a business deal to save it. What he finds there are stuffed shirts, odd manners, and a damsel in distress.

Amelia Elphick’s life is over. She may have been born a lady, but when she finds herself jilted by a lover who leaves her pregnant and refuses to marry her, she seems destined for a life on the streets. When her employer’s rough but handsome houseguest, Eric, offers to rescue her from ruin, she has no choice but to say yes, even if it means moving halfway around the world.

But Amelia finds herself saying yes to more than a ticket west. What starts with a harmless lie tangles Amelia and Eric in a web of desire and deceit that exposes passions and turns their worlds upside-down. Eric believes Amelia holds the key to saving his beloved ranch and giving him the family he always wanted, but can he save her from the demons of her past without losing himself in the process?

People do foolish things when they’re in love…

One of the fun things about writing romance novels is the hero. I love my hero. And frankly, I see him the most clearly in my head as I’m writing. Mr. Tall Dark&-Handsome is sexy, muscular, humorous and a great kisser! After all, he’s my hero!

Back in the day, twenty-something years ago, when historical romance novels were referred to as ‘bodice-ripping’ tales, we read hot, steamy sex scenes and on the cover, Fabian was our role-model for the hero. My, things have changed.

First, covers have evolved I think. We have moved beyond Fabian and his flowing blond mane to man-chests and these naked torsos are rippling with muscles, a well-defined six-pact, enough to make any woman swoon. The many covers that have the hero and heroine on it, they are often entwined in sexy, slightly erotic poses that display gorgeous appeal and tension – the type of involvement we want to read. Ooo la la!

With such beautiful covers out, how could you not make your hero sexy yet totally masculine? <sigh> When I wrote Her Eternal Rogue, my mind conjured up an image of my vampire/pirate, Alexander, and that picture was of Ian Somerhalder – Damon on Vampire Diaries. The man is hot, sexy with those bluish-grey eyes and his sexy grin that could easily convince me to tilt my head, begging him to bite me. Granted, the cover model isn’t Ian but he too is so handsome, how could I say no?</sigh>

As to the sex in today’s stories, a great many sex scenes are hot. Writers now, I think have more advantage to be more revealing, more in depth and what doesn’t help an author more than a sinfully gorgeous man? Once more, Ian as Alexander was a go for me. And with the pictures of him, both on the show and online, you can feel yourself melting in his arms. Oh my…

There’s nothing more appealing than a hot man – don’t you agree? Yum!

Now, under the supervision of her three dogs and three cats, she writes amid a library of research books, with her only true break away is to spend time with her other life long dream – her Arabian horse – with him, her muse can play.

Buy Links:

Barnes And Noble | Amazon |

Where to find Gina:

Website | Blog | Facebook | Twitter

Have my Comfort Reads Influenced my Writing?

YES! My comfort reads make me feel so passionate about the characters and what they are going through that I sometimes feel like I’m right there with them. I tried really hard with A Shot in the Dark to have my readers develop a connection to my characters. I love Josh and Laney’s story. I can feel Josh’s need to control his life and I can feel Laney’s struggle to maintain independence. It may be different from other stories I read, but the emotions are there, and that is what I strived for.

I think the sex scenes were what were most influenced by my comfort reads. I had never written a sex scene before A Shot in the Dark. I was scared and intimidated to write one. I read several different sex scenes and figured out what I liked and didn’t like from each one to create my own. I must have rewritten the sex scene twenty or thirty times. It’s funny because some say it’s too steamy while others who’ve read it say it’s boring. My dad was the one who gave me the most grief about it. I felt awkward knowing he was going to read it, and I think he was just as shocked to know I could put something like that down on paper for millions to read.

Most of my comfort reads are quick reads. I tried to make A Shot in the Dark the same. From the feedback I’ve gotten, I’ve been successful. People’s lives are generally too busy to delve into a long drawn out book. We are a society of instant gratification. And while there is a sequel, it’s still a quick read leaving the reader wanting more.

Some of my favorite books are not because of the story, but because of how the story was written. Some writers are so eloquent with their words. They use flowery words which you wouldn’t normally use in your everyday vocabulary. They provide just enough detail that you can develop a vivid picture in your mind of what’s going on without going overboard. A good writer will make me feel smart. A Shot in the Dark has a lot of medical jargon. This is important to the story since its set in primarily in a hospital. I really worked hard to describe to the reader what everything was and not make the reader feel stupid. I believe the reader will learn a thing or two and not feel overwhelmed with all of the details. I believe that is a sign of a well written book.

My comfort reads help me to be creative and come up with ideas for future books and how I want to develop my characters. When I’m not writing, I read as many books as I can to learn various writing styles that I can incorporate into my own writing. I love this journey, and I love the comfort books that have helped me to get there.
For Laney Pearson and the rest of the staff, this makes it easier to move past the senseless death and destruction that they see on an almost daily basis. But all of that changes for Laney when she finds herself trying to pump the life back into a young motorcycle rider who arrives by helicopter more dead than alive.

Skyler Smith has all the makings of the next great motocross rider, right up until he crashes while trying to perform the trick that will secure his future. From the time his motionless body is lifted off the track, the question becomes not when his next race takes place, but whether he will live to see another day. And now there is mounting evidence that the tragedy was no accident

Laney can never envision this boy’s crash and the ensuing investigation will have such an impact on her own life, but in the days that follow, she discovers a life within her she never knew existed. While the police sort through the mounting evidence from the crash, Laney has to sort through her own feelings for the handsome trauma surgeon that she previously never gave a second thought.

We are not alone…

No, this isn’t a post about aliens. I’m talking about gratitude.

I wanted to take a moment to step back from the marketing ideas, plot developments, writing advice, blogs, Google Analytics, SEO…*takes a deep breath* You get what I’m saying.

So often, we lose ourselves to the busy, busy, business of life and forget that we can’t make it alone.

We all need someone, whether it’s the book blogger who reviewed your book, the reader who tweeted you to tell you they loved it, the friend who let you vent about a bad review (in private), or the spouse/significant other/family member who is just always there, always encouraging. No matter how hard you work, life isn’t something you can go alone. Well, I guess it can be, but it’s a lonely place.

Sure, I wrote Lichgates (Grimoire Saga #1). I designed and outlined the saga. The world of Ourea is my original idea, and the characters are quite often drawn from bits and piece of the people I know in my life. But my husband could have complained when I preferred writing to watching TV with him. Instead, he asked me how much further I got each night. He read my book. He brainstormed with me. Hell, the man knows the plots for every single one of my novels and helped me work through the rougher, more complicated kinks when I had trouble. He’s honest when something sucks. That’s huge! He’s amazing. I don’t think I could have made it here without him.

And then there are my beta readers: my parents, of course, and my writing friends. Darling authors like Nikki Jefford, Robert Zimmermann, Stacey Marie Brown, Jen McConnel, and too many more to name. My editor, Chase Nottingham. My readers made a longtime dream come true: I am an internationally read author.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

If you want to make a difference, go thank someone today. Give someone a hug, or tell them how much they helped you.

It only takes a second, but it’ll make their day.

Three Things That Make Me Nervous by Collette Cameron

I’m not fond of heights. At all.

I saw a picture of a footbridge recently that made me woozy just looking at it. Oh two, three, or four stories are fine, but crazy things like those ridiculous glass elevators that zip up and down outside of buildings, or shoestring footbridges suspended over yawning caverns, or itty bitty teeny trails meant for ants along the edges of canyons that no human in their right mind would stick so much as a toe on—forget it.

And things like skydiving, or rock climbing, or hand-gliding?

Uh-uh. Not happening. Ever. As long as I’m breathing.

My number two blood pressure raiser ?

You’re going to snicker at this one, but I become an agitated wreck if I have to find someplace I’ve never been before. As a matter of fact, it happened this past weekend. I’m still recovering!
Yes, I have a GPS, two in fact; and yes I know about MapQuest; and yes, I have a cell phone. I still freak. Because all it takes is one wrong turn, and I could end up *gasp* lost. You see, I have absolutely no sense of direction. I get lost in mall parking lots.

I’m not kidding.

I walked out of a wedding reception with a bunch of guests two weekends ago, and while everyone else turned left, I turned right. Good thing I was with other people. I’d still be wandering around trying to find my way back to my car.

Okay, the third thing that makes me nervous.

Crowds and parties. I don’t like them. I’m an introvert. Really I am. I can’t make small talk for the life of me. Put me in a room full of people I don’t know, and I panic—in a very composed you-can’t-tell-I’m-freaking-out kind of way. Yet I can stand in a room full of strangers and teach a class. Go figure.

So I if avoid crowded exterior elevators going to an unknown destination, I should be fine. Right?

Naw, cause there’s still spiders. With all their nasty eyes and hairy legs...

Amidst murder and betrayal, destiny and hearts collide when scandal forces a nobleman and a gypsy to marry in this Regency Romance.

Half Romani, half English noblewoman, Evangeline Caruthers is the last woman in England Ian Hamilton, the Viscount Warrick, could ever love—an immoral wanton responsible for his brother’s and father’s deaths. She thinks he’s a foul-tempered blackguard, who after setting out to cause her downfall, finds himself forced to marry her—snared in the trap of his own making.

When Vangie learns the marriage ceremony itself may have been a ruse, she flees to her gypsy relatives, declaring herself divorced from Ian under Romani law. He pursues her to the gypsy encampment, and when the handsome gypsy king offers to take Ian’s place in Vangie’s bed, jealousy stirs hot and dangerous.

At last, under a balmy starlit sky, Ian and Vangie breech the chasm separating them. Peril lurks though. Ian’s the last in his line, and his stepmother intends to dispose of the newlyweds so her daughter can inherit his estate. Only by trusting each other can they overcome scandal and murderous betrayal
Stepping into the house, Michelle ordered Shiloh to her room and stood in the foyer with her arms crossed, waiting for Ty to come through the door. There was no way she was going to let him off the hook. He had so many damned demands. He was going to have to finish the conversation. She wasn’t about to let him charm his way out of the subject. She couldn’t believe that such a magical evening could turn into this.
As Ty stepped into the house, he avoided eye contact for a while as he hung up his coat in the closet. He brushed past Michelle and entered the living room. Slowly he turned to face Michelle who was still in the foyer with her arms folded.
“Are we gonna talk now? Or we gonna yell?”
Michelle walked quickly, closing the space between the two of them. “No, you’re gonna talk. I’m going to listen. Why are you so hell bent on getting married so fast? I mean, we still need to get to know each other, don’t you think?”
He stared down at his feet in deep thought and then locked eyes with Michelle again. “Baby, I love you. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be trying to get married so quickly. I wouldn’t care if you wanted to get married 10 years from now, but I do care and I want you to be my wife as soon as possible. I love you.”
Michelle tilted her head to the side, feeling herself give in a little. She began to wonder if maybe she had been looking at it all wrong. Maybe she should have been flattered that he wanted to be married so soon. She had been so busy accusing him of being spoiled that she didn’t stop to wonder if he was suggesting a quick wedding because he wanted her as his wife so badly. That and the fact that he was probably sexually frustrated. She could understand that, too.
She took a few steps closer to Ty and brushed his arm with her fingertips.
“I’m sorry. I’ve never been engaged before. Maybe I’m just a little nervous about being engaged and married all in one month. If that is what you want, then I can handle that. I love you, Ty. I want to make you happy. You make me happy.”Bellshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03105406078865747930noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878719698620463164.post-84305460828752278982013-09-14T14:05:00.003-04:002013-09-14T14:05:42.719-04:00Highlanders Hope Blog Tour! Title: Highlander's Hope
Author: Collette Cameron
Genre: Historical Romance
Number of Pages: 286
Publisher: Soulmate Publishing

Not a day has gone by that Ewan McTavish, the Viscount Sethwick, hasn't dreamed of the beauty he danced with two years ago. He's determined to win her heart and make her his own. Heiress Yvette Stapleton is certain of one thing; marriage is risky and, therefore, to be avoided. At first, she doesn't recognize the dangerously handsome man who rescues her from assailants on London's docks, but Lord Sethwick's passionate kisses soon have her reconsidering her cynical views on matrimony. On a mission to stop a War Office traitor, Ewan draws Yvette into deadly international intrigue. To protect her, he exploits Scottish law, declaring her his lawful wife—without benefit of a ceremony. Yvette is furious upon discovering the irregular marriage is legally binding, though she never said, "I do." Will Ewan's manipulation cost him her newfound love?

Buy Link:
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Highlanders-Hope-ebook/dp/B00CW1TTIO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369058376&sr=8-3&keywords=highlander%27s+hope

Book Trailer: http://youtu.be/0HnUxiYbR5I

Highlander's Hope Excerpt-Pirate Scene

Yvette stepped back as Ewan pushed his way into the room, leaving the door ajar. His hair was damp, no doubt from bathing, and the stubble darkening his face earlier was gone. Feet bare, wearing only buckskin breeches and a shirt unbuttoned to the waist, he resembled a pirate—a dangerous, rakish, sinfully handsome pirate.
She sucked in her breath. He oughtn’t to be here, but he’d said he wanted to talk to her, and he had promised to behave.
Yvette’s gaze traveled the path of silky hair from his chest until it disappeared into his waistband. Her stomach flip-flopped. Sweet Lord above. She pressed her hands to her frolicking middle. Why doesn’t he say something?
A distraction, that’s what she needed. She escaped to the lumpy bed where she’d flung her clothing before bathing. She folded, then packed the garments into her valise and set it on the floor beside her trunk. Bending to retrieve her towel, she peeked sideways at him from the corner of her eye. He hasn’t moved an inch. What’s he about?
Grabbing the towel, she glanced down and froze. The candles to her left bathed her in a stream of light. She could clearly see the outline of her legs. Her nightwear was almost translucent in the candlelight and gave him a shadowy view of— dear God—nearly everything.
No wonder he hadn’t moved, the lout.
Standing upright, she held the towel before her and faced him. “Enjoying the view, your lordship?” she snapped.
Ewan lounged against the doorframe, watching her. “Immeasurably.”
Bellshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03105406078865747930noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878719698620463164.post-62602871562512848882013-08-31T10:30:00.001-04:002013-08-31T14:55:14.539-04:00Heat Wave Blog Tour!
Hi!! Thanks for letting me hang out with you today!

This has been a year of exciting firsts for me:

· My first book signing (Kansas City in May in conjunction with RT – even though I didn’t attend RT)

· My first time making a bestseller list (#16 on the New York Times extended list in May – Woo-hoo!!)

· My first reader/author get together in June

· My first RWA conference in July

My first book signing was exciting, and I had a great time visiting with members of my street team, as well as making new friends! Making the New York Times list was exciting and thrilling and I get a little shiver every time I think about the fact that I can forever say, “I’m a New York Times bestselling author.” The RWA conference was overwhelming, both in the number of people and the information that I tried to absorb, but it was a great time.

However, Lori Foster’s Annual Reader and Author was the most fun thing I’ve done, and not just this year, but in years!!

I was a little nervous (okay, a lot nervous), because going to an event like this alone was way out of my comfort zone. My husband, a true social butterfly, was supposed to go with me, but something came up at the last minute and he had to cancel. I knew several of my readers were going to be there, as well as my admin, Liza, so I pulled up my big girl panties and went.

Boy, am I ever glad I did! A few hours after arriving, I connected with Liza. By the end of the evening, she’d introduced me to a hand full of new friends. By lunch the next day, I’d connected with my readers, who brought along friends, who also became my friends. I met up with Slick Reads, a reviewer who enjoys my book and who had felt like a friend even before meeting face to face.

I had lunch with a wonderful group of ladies, we spent the afternoon hanging out and laughing until my stomach hurt, and then I participated in my second book signing of the year!

Saturday, I had breakfast with my new friends and after that… I lost track! LOL I was exhausted by the end of the weekend, but I was also more energized than I’d been in a long time.

One of the fabulous ladies I met while there is a reviewer who lives in Raleigh. At breakfast on Saturday, I said, “We need an event like this the southeast.” She looked across the table and said, “I agree!!”

And so, preparations began!

We’d set the date for September 26-28, 2014 in Raleigh, NC, but I received word last Friday that another event is planned for that same weekend in the Midwest. Fortunately, we weren’t too far into planning, so we can change the date of ours without any problem.

Since we’re starting from scratch on this, and want to make sure the event not only meets, but exceeds readers’ expectations, tell me…

Have you ever attended a reader/author get together?
If not, would you like to?
What do you look for in an event such as this?
What’s the biggest factor in making a decision to attend?
What is the most important thing to you: Price? Location? Availability of airports? Time of year?

An event like this is all about the readers, so any information you can give me would be tremendously helpful in planning our event to make sure it’s the perfect experience for everyone who attends.

If you would like to be kept updated on details as we get them put together, please say so in the comments, or email Liza at AlannahLynneAssist@gmail.com. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as information become available!!

Thanks for adding your comments!! A Heat Wave book of choice will be given away to one lucky commenter. Be sure and follow along on each stop of the hop (go to my blog for links to each stop). One commenter from each day will be chosen, and a grand prize drawing for a “Savin’ Me” audio book will be drawn at the end of the tour.
Excerpt:

Erik stood on Kat’s doorstep, carrying a pizza box and beer, wearing that stupid-ass grin again, and vaguely aware of the self-preservationist frantically waving his red flag. Erik knew this no-touching policy seemed counterintuitive to getting Kat back in the sack, but it wasn’t just a ploy to spend more time with her, as the self-preservationist seemed to think. It was part of the bigger plan. If things went according to plan, by the end of night, she’d be cursing that no-touching policy and ruling in favor of full-on contact sports.
“Hi there,” she said, opening the door and stepping aside so he could enter.
His gaze swept over her pink T-shirt, ass-hugging jeans, and bare feet, where a toe ring twinkled mockingly. The self-preservationist muttered, “See, dumbass, you’re in over your head.”
Erik gulped, finding it difficult to argue. Forcing his gaze away from her, he stepped over the threshold and scanned the mountain of boxes littering the floor. “Holy shit.” Some were open, with newspaper hanging over the sides where she’d rummaged through them; others were stacked in neat piles three and four high. “We’re gonna need more beer.”
She laughed and shut the door behind him. “Are you sorry you insisted on helping?” Without waiting for an answer, she took the pizza box from him and led the way to the kitchen.
Hell no, he wasn’t sorry. This was even better than he’d expected. With any luck, he’d be here all night, which gave him more time to make her regret that stupid rule. “Maybe,” he said, laughing so she’d know he was teasing. He glanced around the kitchen, which was slightly less disastrous than the living room. “Do you have a plan of attack, or is this a free-for-all?”
She sat the pizza box on the counter, then looked around. “I think finish the kitchen first, then move to the living room?”
It was more question than statement, so he shrugged and nodded. “Sure. You’re the boss.”
She grabbed paper plates and napkins from the cabinet and set them on the counter next to the pizza. “In that case, I say we eat first. I’m starving.”
“Yes ma’am,” he said, pulling a slice from the box. When she reached for it, he shook his head no and held it up to her mouth. “Open.” She eyed him suspiciously—smart girl—but opened anyway and took a bite.
“Oh my God. That’s so good.” She grabbed another bite, then closed her eyes and chewed like it was the finest food in the world. With her head tilted back, eyes closed, and pleasure rippling off her, she looked much like she had on the boat. Soaking up the sun, the wind blowing her skirt high on her thighs, her hands stroking her legs… she’d been an erotic vision if ever there was one.
He took a deep breath and set the slice on her plate before grabbing a couple of slices for himself. “Vinnie’s makes a great pizza. They have killer lasagna, too. We’ll get that next time.”
She opened her eyes, grabbed her slice, and took another large bite. Between chews she said, “I love lasagna. It’s one of my favorite foods.”
He grabbed two beers and grinned. She hadn’t flinched at the “next time” part of his statement; he was making progress.
She hopped onto the countertop and continued to eat while he opened the bottles. As he turned to hand her one, a drop of pizza sauce stuck to her lip caught his attention. Pizza sauce wasn’t sexy. But when she flicked her tongue out to lick it from her lip, a gulp and a groan collided in his throat. A shot of adrenaline hit his system, and blood rushed to his dick.
He took a long, cooling drink from his bottle and considered his plan—which wasn’t working as he’d intended. In fact, so far, the whole damned thing seemed to be backfiring.
“This is really good,” Kat said, grabbing a second slice. “Thanks for bringing dinner and coming to help. It’s nice to have the company.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
“Did you grow up in Riverside?” she asked.
“Not in Riverside, but across the river and down a ways. About a mile past the plant.”
Kat picked up her pizza to take a bite, paused, then set it back down. “I have to be honest. Once I let go of being pissed off…” She smiled sheepishly. “I really loved being on the water. It’s so peaceful out there. I understand why you prefer traveling by boat.”
Erik’s chest tightened at her soft smile and the sincerity of her words. It shouldn’t have meant anything, but he was thrilled she’d enjoyed something that was such a big part of his life. “We’ll go out again. Soon.”
She nodded, then grabbed her pizza and took a healthy bite.
He smiled and did the same, enjoying the moment.
The self-preservationist dropped his head into his hands and wept.
General conversation ensued until Kat finished eating. She tossed her wadded-up napkin onto her plate and brushed her hands together. Since he’d finished long before her, she asked, “Ready to get busy?”
Erik grinned at all the ways he’d love to get busy, but kept the thought to himself. “Absolutely.” He picked up their plates and dumped them in the trash while Kat dropped to her knees and began sifting through one of the boxes. Finished putting the leftover pizza in the fridge and wiping off the counter, he stood next to her, awaiting further instructions.
She pulled a mixer from the box and turned toward him. “What—?” The question remained unasked as she found her wide-open mouth level with his crotch.
His dick instantly recognized the advantages of the situation and rose with vigor and enthusiasm.
Her gazed fixed on his fly, watching the subtle shifts of his clothing caused by all the behind-the-scenes action taking place. She licked her lips and the impact was as powerful as if she’d physically stroked her tongue over his flesh.
Every muscle in his body tightened in response. Sweat popped out on his forehead and across the back of his neck as her gaze began a slow, leisurely stroll up his body. Her looking up at him—through dark lashes from this position on her knees—caused his cock to swell to near bursting, and its throbbing matched the whooshing in his ears.
No touching.
He clenched his fists and closed his eyes. While taking a few deep breaths, he prayed she’d find the good sense to get off the floor before she found herself flat on her back with him buried to the hilt inside her.
When he finally opened his eyes, he found her standing in front of him, her bottom lip caught between her teeth, a tinge of pink coloring her cheeks. “That was a great view,” she said, smiling sweetly.
He’d given his word on the no-touching bullshit, but the little minx didn’t realize how close he was to giving his fucking honor the boot. “I’d be more than happy to provide you with an even better one,” he said, his voice raspy, his tone clipped and harsh.
She sighed heavily as her shoulders slumped. “That would be really nice, but I’m afraid it would be terrible… just terrible”—she batted her eyes and did her best Scarlett impression—“to have something so incredible to look at and not be able to touch.”
Without waiting for his response, she turned and bent over, reaching for the goddamned mixer she’d left on the floor.
“Jesus Christ!” A man could only take so much. She yelped as he snatched her up around the waist and sat her on the counter. “Sit there and don’t move. Don’t bat your eyes. Don’t lick your lips. Don’t get on your knees. And for God’s sake, don’t bend over.” He snatched the mixer off the floor. “Where the hell do you want it?”
The little she-devil clapped her hands together, threw her head back, and laughed with abandon.
The act was more threatening to his emotional stability than all her sexy moves put together. Laughing like this, she was absolutely radiant. And he wanted her more than he’d ever wanted anyone.
Including Lindsey.
Over the next hour, Kat sipped her beer and did a point-and-direct, while Erik stashed everything away in the cabinets. How it went from him trying to make her regret the no-touching rule to him skating the slippery slope of becoming a liar was beyond him. But sure as shit, it happened.
Kitchen finished, they moved to the living room. Putting together a bookshelf kept his mind occupied while she unpacked books and knickknacks. He made like a pack mule and moved the remaining boxes to the guest room, then they arranged the living room furniture to take advantage of the exceptional view her upstairs apartment had of the river.
While Kat refolded and stacked the used newspaper for recycling, Erik broke down the empty boxes and carried them to the recycling container outside. When he returned, he didn’t see Kat, so he followed the sounds coming from the back of her apartment.
As he approached the end of the dark hallway, she burst from her bedroom, rounding the corner at a fast clip. They collided, hard.
He threw his arms around her waist to keep her from stumbling back. In the process, every perfect curve and dip of her body molded against his. The heat of her palms pressing against his chest was like a sizzling brand, as she gasped to catch her breath.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “I didn’t hear you come back in. Are you all right?”
No, he wasn’t even close to being all right.
Through the filtered light of the living room, he watched her eyes go from wide with surprise to a heavy-lidded forest green as he continued to hold her tight. With each labored breath, his chest brushed against her breasts. His palm rested on the small of her back, and he fought the need to pull her tighter against his jerking, straining erection.
“Fuck.” What was supposed to have been a muttered curse came out sounding like a plea.
Her throat bobbed as she swallowed hard. Her body melted further into his, and the pulse in her neck fluttered wildly.
All the way to the dumpster and back he’d lectured and coached himself like a parent would an unruly teenager. Come in, make sure she didn’t need any more help, then get the hell out before something like this happened. But right now, primal instinct was in control, overpowering his good intentions and his word, demanding he take what he wanted.
He thrust his free hand through the hair at the nape of her neck and yanked her head back, careful not to hurt her, but forceful enough to let her know she wasn’t going anywhere. Surprised by his aggression, her eyes snapped wide and her mouth dropped open, giving him the access he craved. His assault on her mouth was as ferocious as a lion attacking its prey.
Rather than push him away, she accepted him fully by wrapping her arms around his neck and dragging him even closer. He backed her against the wall, wedged a knee between her thighs, and with a feral growl, deepened the kiss even further while she rode his knee.
And it still wasn’t enough for either of them.
Their tongues clashed, twisting and tangling, frantic for even deeper contact. His hand snaked up her side until he reached the swell of her breasts. He used his thumb to tease her taut nipple, and she arched her back, pressing her body more firmly into his grasp.
His heartbeat pounded in his ears as his body stretched tight as a rubber band about to snap. He wanted to eat her alive, and if he didn’t stop now—which was already way beyond the promised boundaries—he wouldn’t stop until he’d stroked her, eaten her, and buried himself in her warm, wet body.
It was one of the hardest things he’d ever done, but as his words—no touching—thumped inside his skull, he forced himself to pull back and draw in a deep, shuddering breath.
Her eyes screamed don’t stop. But he had to; this wasn’t right. He’d given his word that he’d behave, and although he may have a reputation for being a lowlife scoundrel, he always kept his word.
Of course, when he made that promise he hadn’t counted on extenuating circumstances making it impossible. But he could still walk away at this point and not feel like a total sack of shit. The look in her eyes, her response to his touch all told him that one day soon he’d strip, lick, suck, and fuck her senseless.
But it wouldn’t be tonight.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice raw and choppy. “When I made that promise, I hadn’t considered the possibility of you literally falling into my arms.”
Eyes wide and glassy, she ran a finger over her lips and took a few shallow breaths. “Is it always going to be like this?” Her voice was soft, desperate. “Every time we’re together is it going to be a constant battle, like horny teenagers trying to keep our hands off each other?”
He scrubbed a shaky hand down his face, then proceeded to stare a hole in his shoes as he honestly considered the question. He wanted to tell her no, that it was just a phase. He wished he could give her a smooth-talking sales job that would get her into bed and stick with his plan of working her out of his system. Then, they would both move on with their lives. Separately.
The problem was, he no longer believed it would be that easy. His cat scratch fever was back with a vengeance.
“I don’t know,” he said, running a thumb across her red and swollen bottom lip. “All I know is that I want you with a ferociousness I have never felt before.” And with that admission, he turned away and headed for the door. “Maybe I should swim home to work off some of this pent-up frustration.” He stopped at the door, turned, and winked. “Sleep tight, baby.”Bellshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03105406078865747930noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878719698620463164.post-54844687828725183112013-08-07T08:00:00.000-04:002013-08-09T16:03:17.485-04:00Feature Post: Vampire Mine - Aline Hunter

I'm so excited to welcome one of my favorite authors to the blog today! The wonderful Carly Phillips! I had the great pleasure of meeting Carly in 2012 at the Lori Foster Reader & Author Get Together and let me tell you, she was so down to earth and gracious to everyone.

Writers Read

I’m an avid reader and book junkie and have been probably since I learned to read. As a writer, there is a definite benefit reading – it broadens your mind, opens your imagination, lets your subconscious think about your own writing as you’re reading another author’s brilliance. Sometimes on the treadmill as I am devouring a book, I’ll come up with exactly why I’m stuck or what is wrong with my current work in progress. Or like the rest of the non-writing world, I’ll just enjoy a book for what it is!

As a reader, I love the joy of sharing what I read with others who love the same genre. Even more, I love finding out what others are reading and opening my mind to new authors and types of books. As an author, I’m lucky in that thanks to my blog (www.plotmonkeys.com) and my Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/carlyphillipsfanpage) I have access to readers who love romance novels as much as I do!

So every Saturday on Facebook I ask everyone what they are reading and they post back to me … it’s wonderful. So many posts, so many books and authors! And also on Saturdays, at Plotmonkeys, we ask you the same thing and our visitors can chat with each other about books.

Although I have my own books to promote, and I do this when necessary, I use the blog and FB more for fun and to reach out to those who like books! After all, books are the one thing that bring us all together! So where do you go to find out about books?

Thanks so much for having me! Book 2 in the Serendipity's Finest series

Erin … The Good Girl
Assistant
District Attorney, Erin Marsden, is Serendipity’s quintessential good
girl. The only daughter of the ex-police chief, she has never made a
misstep, content with her quiet, predictable life … or so she thinks.
Until Cole Sanders returns to town with heated interest in his eyes and
shadows in his past.

Cole … The Bad Boy
After
seven years of deep undercover work in New York City, Cole returns to
Serendipity to help his aging father and to find his moral compass once
more. Not to get involved with wholesome Erin Marsden. Even as a
rebellious teen, he knew a girl like Erin was off limits and that hasn’t
changed. But neither one of them can resist their off-the-charts
chemistry and a one night stand brings complications neither Erin nor
Cole expected.

The Attraction … Off the Charts!
Then
Erin’s current case plunges her into a killer’s crosshairs. With more
at stake than anyone knows, Erin succumbs to Cole’s take-charge
attitude. As a bodyguard, he’s the best. As a lover, he’s even better.
But there’s more than the matter of Erin’s safety at stake. And Cole
must forgive the sins of his past and prove to himself – and to Erin –
that he’s capable of the love and the forever she – and their baby –
desperately need.Bellshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03105406078865747930noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2878719698620463164.post-89750564667663136282013-08-03T19:55:00.000-04:002013-08-03T19:58:38.860-04:00Winners of the Tigris Eden Shadow Unit Blog Takeover!

Day 6: It's Release Day!

Bells here! I have reclaimed my blog once again! Yay! Today is the release day for Burned in Shadows! I'm so excited for my buddy Tigris Eden and can't wait to hear what everyone thinks about the next installment in the series. Here's what Burned in Shadows is about!

Royce Zarides has
accepted his hand dealt by fate. He's loved and left far too many women.
In the bedroom that is. But one kiss from Belinda Raine Ignis was all
it took for his eyes to open. Is she really the woman meant for him and
his brother Ronin? Or will history only repeat itself? That's the
million dollar question he doesn't want to answer.

Ronin does not
believe that Belinda is for him and his brother. But one night with her
isn't enough. Even when he sees her for who and what she really is,
Ronin still has a hard time expressing his emotions where Belinda is
concerned, and time is running out now that she's to ascend to the
status of Matria of the Phoenix Enclave.

Belinda (Bells) Ignis is
good at ignoring men. She's had her share of heartache. Jilted at the
altar by her first love, she's sworn all men off for good. Her mother
and Matria of her community has other plans in mind, as well as the
Zarides brothers. When faced with the heated glances of Ronin and the
smooth tongue of Royce, what's a girl to do?

The clock is ticking
down for certain members of the Shadow Unit. Draven assumed dead,
leaves a sour taste in every ones mouth. Jes' new found abilities make
for a great addition to the team. But when things seem to settle, they
only get worse, as the team sets out to discover the origins of Mr.
Black and the notorious Red Sun Organization. Secrets are uncovered and
deals are made that result in a deadly blow to all involved.

Day 5: Interview with the Shadow Unit leader Stefan Dravaggio

Bells here! I've managed to snag my blog back from Tigris' grip once again to interview the leader of the Shadow Unit, the mysterious Dravaggio. After my interview with Royce and Ronin, they suggested that I interview Dravaggio to see if I could learn more about the Shadow Unit.

Thanks for being here Dravaggio. Why was the Shadow Unit formed?
*clears throat* I don’t think that’s any of your business human, but since I promised the twins I’d do this. How about I just say, that the Shadow Unit started because of a need to protect the human race. To ensure that megalomaniacs didn’t take advantage of your kind.

You work with a group of unique individuals. What qualifies you to be their leader?
You ask a lot of questions I can’t exactly give answers to. Are you always this nosy? *shakes head* Figures the twins would make do this. What qualifies me is simple Bells. That is your name right? Bells? (Says the name slowly) I’m far more superior to any of my team members, they trust me to handle their lives. I don’t take that job lightly. It’s a serious job to have the lives of your men in the palm of your hand.

Belinda: *stares at his hands* It's starting to get hot in here. Are you hot? *undoes my top 2 shirt buttons* *fans face*
*smirks*

How do you feel about the women on your team? There are two now correct?
I see you’ve been well informed. Yes there are two females a part of my team, with a third soon to join. I don’t have a problem with females per se. They bring a certain balance to the team. Keep the other men on their toes, and they are most definitely pleasant to look at.

Are you single?
*grins* Why? Are you offering to be my girlfriend Bells? *leans forward and rests his hands on his legs and looks up beneath his lashes* I’ve never been in a relationship before. I can see how something like that could be appealing. But I assure you Bells you don’t want to be in a relationship with someone of my caliber. Is this meeting over yet? Or do you have more questions for me?

Am I being punk'd?! What in the heck is going on?! Why do have this urge to jump in your lap?! Royce really wanted me to meet you and went on and on about how irresistible your personality can be. Now that I think of it, he was kind of smirking when he said that.
Ah you think that long haired human is going to pop out from behind a door? I can assure you, you’re not being punk'd. I apologize for my abrasiveness. I don’t get out much and my voice can sometimes get me into more trouble than necessary. If you’ll excuse me.

*stares at Dravaggio's backside as he leaves* Wow that was a quick interview huh? I don't know what happened there, but I apologize to you all for going off topic. I'm always very professional during interviews. I had heard from Tigris that Dravaggio could be very mysterious and appealing. That he has a way of making women tremble in his presence. But I thought I would be the strong one and could handle him. Geesh was I wrong!

Day 4: Interview with Royce & Ronin

Bells here! I've taken over my blog once again to interview 2 of my favorite guys that are in the Shadow Unit, Royce and Ronin. When my buddy Tigris Eden told me that she was going to name a character in her book after me I not only feel honored but excited to find out who I would be paired with. When she told me it was the twins, I thought YAHOOOOO I can totally get with that!

Bells: Thanks for taking the time to talk to me guys, I know you’re really busy, lets jump right in, shall we?

Royce: Snap crackle and pop it girl. *winks* How you doin?
Bells: I am doing great baby! *winks back*

How did you first learn about the Unit? When did you join?

Royce: *looks over at his brother and grins* It was all my fault really. Had it not been for my superman heroic’s saving the little girl out of a burning building. The captain would have never contacted us. I think I got like a gazillion hits on youtube for that stunt.
Ronin: Dumbass
Royce: Ignore quiet the boy wonder here, he doesn’t know what it’s like to be social. Well the captain called me up and I went down for the initial meet and greet. He’d only wanted me at first, but told them I wouldn’t join if I couldn’t bring the twin with me.
Ronin: *smirks*

What are your roles in the unit?

Royce: Roles? Good question, I don’t know exactly how to answer that, we all have our roles, but if I had to pin point it I guess you could say me and my brother do the interrogations. We have a way of making people talk.

Is it true what they say about your blood?

Ronin: How about sitting this one out and taking the fifth on this one?
Royce: Dude, that’s so rude, we can tell her she’s trustworthy, Tigris wouldn’t let just anyone interview us. *smiles big* Bells, its true our blood is blue and it has the power to bring any women to their knees, except for our intended. There is a saying among my past conquests. Bring in Blue and out with the Batteries. *laughs*
Bells: *giggles*
Ronin: Not funny.
Royce: It sounded better in my head.

I’m excited to know more about you two in Burned In Shadows!

Ronin: Well I’m excited to know why Royce is your book boyfriend and I didn’t make the cut?
Royce: That was like a whole sentence Ro, you’re making records here.
Bells: Ummm...well...I knew more about Royce at the beginning and you know he's quite the character. You're just so quiet Ronin. But now that I know you better (yeah a whole lot better) I am so going to put you on the list.
Ronin: I’m three minutes older and I know when to shut up.
Royce: Hey, I know how to keep quiet punk ass.

I understand the heroine Bells enters into a relationship with the two of you and that happens to be my namesake.

Royce: Maybe it is you *winks*
Ronin: Have you even read the book? This chick is human, or Belinda is a Phoenix. Don’t get it twisted. *grunts* Nothing against you Belinda, you’re a very lovely person.
Bells: Gee thanks Ronin. *sigh*

Technically since I’m dating the both of you what would each of you do on an ideal date with me?

Royce: Easy peasy, I’d tie you to my bed and worship you… That’s any woman’s ideal date with me. Can’t go wrong there. Cha Ching!
Bells: OH YEAH!
Ronin: I’m going to have to say pass on that one.
Bells: *sigh* So quiet.

These next questions are rapid fire just say the first thing that comes to mind.

Coke/Pepsi - Royce: Coke
Boxer/Briefs - Royce: Boxers gotta let it hang
Leather/Jeans - Royce: Jeans, leather makes your balls stink Bells: EWWWWW!
Rock/Rap - Royce: both
Suck/bite - Royce: Definitely both
Royce: You gonna answer her questions bro?
Ronin: *Takes a deep breath and sighs.* Fine, Coke, Boxer Briefs, Jeans, Blues, and both. There are you happy?
Royce: Eternally happy douche.

I’m a huge move fan, I learned something interesting from one of the members of the unit. Ronin why does Dietrich refer to you as Riddick?

Ronin: That’s easy, the guy lacks imagination. I look nothing like Riddick. For starters I’m taller and no one would ever have the chance to do half the shit that fool went through. I like movies too, but that isn’t one of my favorites. Maybe it’s my shitty disposition that has D so hard up for me. Next time Interview D and ask him why he is stuck in the 90’s. Better yet, remind him that Gangsta Rap is dead.
Royce: Bells, you’ve worked a miracle, you’ve gotten Ronin to speak for more than a minute. I’m proud. I’m getting all emotional here. *fake wipes a tear from his eye*

Who is next couple to hook up in the series and why?

Royce: I gotta tell you there’s this new chick that just started, I think her name is Xee but anyway I see her and Dietrich hooking up those two are inseparable.
Ronin: You’re wrong. But whatever.

As always, it was a pleasure guys. Thanks for taking time out of your busy life to answer these questions. I hope that everyone who loves you as well has gotten to know you a little bit better. :)
accepted his hand dealt by fate.

Excerpt:
The hall was dark when she stepped out of the bathroom. Belinda could hear the television going in front of the apartment and opted for her room, so she could change the burnt sheets. She’d made it two steps down the hall when Ronin crowded her into the adjoining room. His hulking body blocked her escape. He was in a pair of sweats, barefoot and no shirt. Gods, but she loved watching his muscles move as he walked. His movements were fluid as he flexed. His body was sculpted by years of hard work and sweat. What was a girl to do with all that perfection?

“I need my shirt,” he said moving towards her. He’d just had a shirt.

She tried to move out of the way, but he walked her back and continued moving forward. The hall was narrow, so could do nothing but be backed into the hall closet next to his room. There wasn’t enough space between him and the closet. He was too close for her own comfort. Hands clenched at her sides, Bells found herself leaning forward. He made her squirm, made her ache, and dammit he made her want things she had no business thinking about. His arm reached over her shoulder, and the movement caused her to move deeper into the closet. He wasn’t actually trying to reach the shirt attached to its hanger. No, what he was doing was purposely closing her in, cornering her as if she was a nervous rabbit. The heat from his body was throwing off an enticing aroma of man mixed with lust. She couldn’t place the scent, it wasn’t store bought. It was natural, all him. It was lulling and smooth, but rough at the same time. It was a smell that was quickly becoming an addiction for her. It got stronger as he moved closer. The air from the ceiling fan did nothing to stop its potency. The sultry, decadent scent rose to a level that would have her dropping her shorts to her ankles.

“You okay?”

Black, satin sheets and lazy kisses, that’s the image that collected in her mind as he looked down at her with hunger. She saw herself sliding on them while he kissed her with long, slow, swipes of his lips. She absently licked her lips in preparation, but quickly ducked her head so he wouldn’t get any ideas.

Scent Branding: It’s Nothing to Sneeze at by Dina Rae

Love the woody smell inside of Abercrombie and Fitch stores? What about the fig, jasmine, and freesia smell of the Sheraton Hotel chain? These are some of the examples of scent branding also known as ambient scenting. This marketing strategy proves to be big business.

Prolitec, a leading scent marketing company, continues to expand by creating signature scents and air technology that disperses the scent throughout stores, hotels, and companies. Colleges have caught on to the importance of the field and offer master degree programs for scent design.

Pascal Gaurin, a leading scent designer, created a scent for Samsung. Surveyed customers equated the unique smell with excellence and spent 20-30% more time inspecting the electronics. The owner of Bloom Grocery store in Salisbury, NC, erected a billboard emitting a charcoal smell on highway, giving hungry drivers an idea of stopping at their store.

Why is scent branding so popular? Besides more sales, the unique smell causes the customer to associate certain products with their emotions. The scent stays deep inside of one’s memory. But how can that be? The Olfactory Bulb (sense of smell) and Brain’s Limbic system (memory) account for 75% of our emotions. Therefore, smell is a more powerful sense than sight. Makes scents, right? Ask any bloodhound or shark what they would rather use. Besides the afore mentioned, some other giants hopping on the scent branding wagon include Guess, Credit Suisse, De Beers, Westin, Ashley Furniture, Jimmy Choo, Bloomingdale’s, Hugo Boss, Lexus, Victoria’s Secrets, Fiat, and Juicy Couture.

Sounds like an effective way to advertise. But is it ethical? In the Bronx, New York, the Sister Thomas Apartments have been partaking in an experiment since 2010. Hypothesis that borders on fact claims that smell has the power to make you feel good and make you feel bad. The tenants that live in the housing project are the guinea pigs for leading scent designers Bruno Jovanovic (Abercrombie) and Pascal Gaurin (Samsung). Through observation and statistics within housing projects they intend to prove that smell will make you happy, and thus act happy. Sound like mind control?

Besides the controversy, the fragrance industry doesn’t have many standards. Their secret ingredients could easily contain toxins that are known allergens and hormone disrupters. Other ingredients that might not be legal to ingest but legal to breathe in could also be used. No one seems to know. Something smells funny. Is scent branding a right or wrong way to do business? Post a comment and let me know what you think. Halo of the Nephilim explores the use of scent branding for diabolical purposes.

Title: Halo Of The Nephilim
Author: Dina Rae
Genre: Paranormal Fiction/Horror
Series: Follows Halo of the Damned
Number of Pages: 244
Publisher: Eternal Press

Buy Links: Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

Synopsis:

Can a fallen angel, his band of broken souls, and his nephilim children change the world?
Armaros the Cursed, Satan’s favorite of the Fallen, falls once again after breaking the rules. Fearing an eternity of punishment, he desperately attempts to save himself by sending a bird to his island. The SOS message is received by his beloved congregation. They prepare the great Armaros’ kingdom for his return. Can his loyal worshipers rescue him from the pit?

Halo of the Nephilim is the sequel to Halo of the Damned. The story begins with Armaros’ arrest. Reporters are duped into believing he was gunned down while awaiting trial. Declared dead, his only known surviving daughter, Joanna Easterhouse, proves her relation and inherits everything. She catapults her career from an entry-level advertising assistant to the head of Armaros’ advertising empire. Life couldn’t be better: a windfall inheritance, real power within a major industry, a loving relationship with a former demon, and a baby on the way. She should be on top of the world, but knows everything good must come to an end.

Joanna’s sister, Kim Easterhouse, becomes Kim Slattery after marrying Sean, her dead mother’s probate lawyer. Joanna generously includes them as key players in her advertising chain. They, too, have much to smile about, but a string of events leads them back to old family secrets.

Wickedness looms over the Easterhouse family once more, forcing them into an unlikely showdown filled with page-turning excitement. Like Halo of the Damned, Halo of the Nephilim is filled with conspiracy and angel lore taken directly from scripture and other ancient writings. Nephilim meander the earth in confusion, constantly questioning who they are and where they stand in terms of good and evil. More mind control themes top off this tale of doom. Dina Rae delivers the darkness in the most entertaining light.

Author Bio:

Dina Rae is a new author that is here to stay. As a teacher, she brings an academic element to her work. Her research on the Yezidi religion and love of art inspired her story telling for Halo of the Damned. Halo of the Nephilim and Halo of the Madonna are new to the angel series.

Her second novel, The Last Degree, is a fictionalized account of the Freemason’s role in the New World Order. Dina's grandfather was the Most Worshipful of his lodge. The subject has always held a personal interest.

Bad Juju, is about an old Haitian bokor who mentors two teens in the dark arts. A unique blend of horror, romance, and literary fiction meant for adults and mature teens.

Dina lives with her husband, two daughters, and two dogs outside of Chicago. She is an avid reader, tennis player, movie buff, and self-proclaimed expert on conspiracy theories. She has appeared in several literary blogs, newspapers, e-zines, and radio shows as a guest.
Green kissed Everson, Texas, goodbye years ago. A big city chef, she
intends to return only long enough to settle her beloved grandmother's
estate and then hightail it back to Chicago. But Grammy Hazel had other
plans. In her will, she left Etta part-ownership of a B&B that's
about to go bankrupt before it even opens. And what's worse--Etta's
partner is Donny Joe Ledbetter, a handsome devil with some serious bad
boy charm. Growing up, Donny Joe didn't give Etta a second glance. Now,
she's got his whole attention.

A far cry from the shy bookworm he
once knew, sexy, spirited Etta Green is nothing but trouble. Yet Donny
Joe decides to play nice. After all, the quicker they open the B&B,
the faster this exasperating--and irresistible--woman will be on her
way. Donny Joe has never been a one-woman kind of man. But one crazy
little moment of unforgettable desire may change his mind--if he can
convince Etta to stay for good...

I may have spent the majority of my life in California, but
