New Release Tuesday!

There are some great new releases this Tuesday March 2, 2010. Here are some that have caught my eye:

Books

Shadowglass is book 2 in The Shadowfae Chronicles by Erica Hayes.
Here is some info on Shadowglass:

A seductive magic mirror lies hidden deep in a demon’s lair, with a simple warning: don’t stare at the glass…

Ice is a thief and a scammer — a troubled fairy trying her best to eke out a meager living in the squalid underworld of the Shadowfae. When she spends a hot night with a demon lord, she discovers a powerful magic mirror in his lair — and pilfers it, knowing it’s the key to escaping her bleak life as a two-bit con artist. But Ice soon discovers that its power comes with a price…madness, which is slowly overtaking her...

I have book one of the series, Shadowfae, by haven't read it yet. I hope to read it soon so that I move on to book 2.

Hex Hall is a YA book by Rachel Hawkins. Here is a synopsis:

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Broken is by Shiloh Walker. Here is a blurb about Broken:

Quinn Rafferty is working as a bounty hunter for a private detective agency in St. Louis when a new neighbor catches his eye. He's drawn to her-but he has his own soul to mend before he can worry about anyone else.

Sarah McElyea is on the run, but not for the usual reasons a woman goes on the lam. She has a plan for her future. And as much as she finds herself attracted to her gruff, tough neighbor, she can't risk telling him the secrets she's hiding.

But Quinn must get closer to Sarah when she turns out to be the target of his new missing persons case, and both Quinn and Sarah will have to expose their true feelings-as well as their fragile hearts-if their love is to survive.

Sounds good huh? Shiloh Walker has an excerpt on her site that is absolutely hot! Here is a link to it: http://shilohwalker.wordpress.com/broken/

Velvet Haven is by Sophie Renwick. It is book 1 in the Annwyn Chronicles. Here is a summary of the book:

Hidden from mortals for eternity, Annwyn, the Otherworld, is home to shapeshifters, wraiths and dragons. On the border with the mortal realm stands a nightclub called Velvet Haven. The shapeshifter king of Sidhe, Bran, comes there searching for his brother, Carden, who's ensnared in a centuries-old curse. He looks to Mairi, a mortal woman with an unusual aura, for help. He usually just uses humans for sexual pleasure in order to restore his magic energy, but Mairi's lush curves and teasing caresses inflame him like no Sidhe ever has. He has no idea that the woman he's falling for holds the key to his destruction-or his salvation.

That cover is hot! I love covers that pull me into the book. But, I should know from past experiences that you should never judge a book by it's cover. I've read a lot of crappy stories that have pretty cover. LOL!

Shade Fright is by Sean Cummings and is book 1 in the Valerie Stevens Series. Here is a summary of the book:

"I fell into this job quite by accident, when I discovered that I possessed the ability to see the preternatural world. There are a handful of people with similar abilities, and part of my job is to locate them, since Government Services and Infrastructure Canada likes to keep track of these things. Don't ask me why."

There's a malevolent force in town, and it's quite literally Valerie Stevens' job to determine who's behind it and why they want to destroy the world, starting with Calgary.

She'll have help, in the form of her best friend (now more or less a zombie, unfortunately), a powerful dwarf troll, and the ghost of former Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King (but he goes by 'Bill' these days). But that's not all - Valerie has some tricks up her sleeve and, she hopes, luck on her side. Oh, and her boyfriend, Dave. He drives a dump truck.

What an interesting book. It looks like it has a lot of comedic elements which I don't mind reading in a UF book. I'll probably try to get this one from my library.

Movies

I love disaster films! 2012 had all the right ingredients to give me goosebumps as I was watching it. And who doesn't love John Cusack? One of my favorite actors from the 80's.

I've heard some different opinions of Where The Wild Things Are so I think I will be Netflix'ing this one. I have to say that the monsters look absolutely adorable. I hope my kids enjoy this one.

My kids are going to be so excited with all the great films coming out this week. They wanted to see Ponyo really badly when it was in the theaters but I didn't take them. I'll be Netflix'ing this one as well.

So tell me what new releases are you looking forward to this week. Can't wait to hear.
