It's my favorite day of the week again! Here are the new releases for 3/9/10 that have caught my eye:
Books
First up is Abandon the Night by Joss Ware. It is book 3 in the Awakening Hero's Series. This series really has some scorching covers! *fanning face* If you're interested in this series it is best to start at the beginning of the series. Here are the other books in the Awakening Hero's Series:
Book 1: Beyond the Night
Book 2: Embrace the Night Eternal
Angelology is a novel by Danielle Trussoni. This book will not be an easy read for me and I'm up for the challenge. Here is a synopsis:
A thrilling epic about an ancient clash reignited in our time- between a hidden society and heaven's darkest creatures
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.
Genesis 6:5
Sister Evangeline was just a girl when her father entrusted her to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in upstate New York. Now, at twenty-three, her discovery of a 1943 letter from the famous philanthropist Abigail Rockefeller to the late mother superior of Saint Rose Convent plunges Evangeline into a secret history that stretches back a thousand years: an ancient conflict between the Society of Angelologists and the monstrously beautiful descendants of angels and humans, the Nephilim.
For the secrets these letters guard are desperately coveted by the once-powerful Nephilim, who aim to perpetuate war, subvert the good in humanity, and dominate mankind. Generations of angelologists have devoted their lives to stopping them, and their shared mission, which Evangeline has long been destined to join, reaches from her bucolic abbey on the Hudson to the apex of insular wealth in New York, to the Montparnasse cemetery in Paris and the mountains of Bulgaria.
Rich in history, full of mesmerizing characters, and wondrously conceived, Angelology blends biblical lore, the myth of Orpheus and the Miltonic visions of Paradise Lost into a riveting tale of ordinary people engaged in a battle that will determine the fate of the world.
Movies
I cannot wait to see this movie! It stars too of my favorite actors. George Clooney and Jason Bateman. I must get my drool cloth ready for when I view this. George, as I like to call him, was nominated for an Oscar in the Leading Actor category for this movie. It also stars Anna Kendrick who plays Jessica in The Twilight Series movies. I think her role as Jessica was scene stealing so I am looking forward to seeing her in this film.
I will warn you ahead of time that Precious by Lee Daniels is not an easy movie to view. But the message of overcoming odds and believing in ones self cannot be ignored! The acting in this film is also superb! The actors in the film have also received Oscar nominations for Lead Actress (Gabourey Sidibe) and Supporting Actress (Mo'Nique). I'm betting on Mo'Nique to win this award because she made her character so believable. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy when watching this one.
Now onto something a little more heart lightening. Area 51's main character is voiced by Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock. I'll be picking this one up for the kids. They have wanted to see it for a while.
So those are my picks for this week. Tell me what you are looking forward to this week!
