A Bad Day For A Demon

Rafe Deleon is a senior demon and he resents like hell his assignment to Earth to retrieve the Chest of the Damned before it falls into the wrong hands. But then he meets beautiful, intriguing succubus Lucy Gregory, and she's just unleashed a whole load of trouble...

Really Sucks For A Succubus

Lucy's chic suburban beauty salon has suddenly become the Underworld's center of mass chaos and destruction. The only good thing in a day going rapidly down the tubes is the arrival of a gorgeous demon who's adamant that he can help her...

But Lucy has quite a few deeply unpleasant-not to mention deadly and hateful-surprises ahead of her, and surely there's never been a worse time to try out a new boyfriend...
Lucy Gregory is the owner of a beauty salon that she worked very hard to open up and is very proud of all that she has accomplished.  Her mother wanted her to be a surgeon, but Lucy did what her heart desired and believes that her father that passed away would have supported whatever she decided to do.  Lucy's best friend purchases an antique chest and needs Lucy's help to translate the writing on it that is Latin.  The ladies discover the chest can only be opened during the lunar eclipse and it must be handled with someone that has demon blood.  They decided to meet back at the shop the night of the eclipse and although Lucy thinks it will be fun, she has a feeling that something is up with this chest because she is shocked every time she touches it.  Lucy manages to open the chest and lets just say that bad things start to happen.  With the help of a handsome stranger by the name of Rafe, Lucy discovers that all is not what it seems to be.  She learns that she is half demon and is a succubus and soon realizes that she has an inner power that she never could have imagined possible.  Along the way she learns a lot more about Demons and the real truth of her parents. She also tries to shake the uncontrollable attraction that she has towards Rafe and her new succubi powers aren't making anything better.  He is attracted to her as well and tries his best to fight the attraction because demons are not supposed to get with succubi.  As much as they try to deny the feelings, they just can't help themselves.

There were lots of funny moments in Demons Prefer Blondes.  I mostly liked the relationship between Lucy and her best friend Serah.  They pretty much said what came to mind to each other and their friendship felt realistic because of this.  I wasn't blown away by Rafe and I'm kind of surprised.  He just didn't have that hotness factor that I've come to rely on when it comes to male characters.

Overall, Demons Prefer Blondes entertained me somewhat.  There were some moments that I thought the book moved too slowly and I found myself becoming bored from time to time.  I hoped that there would have been more action *clears throat* for Lucy since she was a succubus and was irresistible to men.  The parts I found most entertaining is when Lucy learned more about who she was and what she was capable of doing.  I don't know if I will read the next book in the series,  but am curious as to what will happen.

I'm giving Demons Prefer Blondes a rating of:
