One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.
No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy. She’s left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance, she’s managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her--until now.

The deliciously good-looking vampire Disco knows her secret, and when he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, she discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no. But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.

PhotobucketDead was re-released today.  How is Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between different than the original release?

First and foremost, you'll notice a difference in the editing style and cover by my amazing cover artist Skyla Dawn Cameron. She did a great job and, since the cover is wrap around, if you order the print version you'll notice a substantial "visual" difference. I also made sure to clarify a few things, as certain scenes were cut and a few things here and there stood out to people. I tried to do my best to revise this version so the reader would be able to follow the story, enjoy it, and not have so many questions about certain things that may or may not have been explained.

Speaking of covers, did you have any input into the new one?

Yes, actually, which is great. I spoke at length with Skyla about what I envisioned and she nailed it. There are so many things she can do with poser that you can't do with Stock Images. Since Rhiannon works in a bar (in a strip club) I was thrilled to see Rhiannon, the bar, and the lights shining above. Of course, I was floored when I saw the cover for The Renfield Syndrome. I gave her a general idea and she blew me out of the water.

Me likey!

This book includes additional material, can you tell us about that?

Sure thing! I've written an author's note, which tells you a bit about my journey when I wrote the book. Mundania was also kind enough to include the vignettes from my blog (Eyes on Me and More Than Words), as well as the first two chapters of The Renfield Syndrome.
PhotobucketLet's talk The Renfield Syndrome. Do we get plenty of Disco this time around?

Let's just say nothing is what it seems. I take a lot of risks in the second book, which caused the process of writing it to be a lot slower than I would have liked. I was so worried about pleasing readers but ultimately had to go with my gut. I hope people enjoy the book, although I can say it's a lot different than Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between. Thus far, my beta readers and crit partners enjoyed it more than the first. I hope everyone else will as well.

Well after what happens at the end of Dead, I suspect we won't see much of Disco.

I can tell you that Disco fans will get their fix. However, it may or may not be in the manner they expect. I know, not much of an answer, but I don't want to reveal too much.

Everyone knows you love Paine. Will we see more of him.

Sure will. He's always been a character I love, so I couldn't help but have more of him in the second book.

Since we know The Renfield Syndrome is being released in August, are you working on the third book in the series? Do you have a certain number of books planned?

I am writing the third book, The Ripple Effect, which I hope to wrap up by the end of June. I'm not sure about the number of books in the series, however, I can tell you the fourth installment will be called Edge of Darkness.  (Oooo I like that title!)

Can you tell us anything about The Ripple Effect?

There's more Disco? How's that? In all seriousness, the events of the second book dictate the third. I sort of wrote myself into a corner and keep doing it. My hope is eventually Rhiannon will show me a way out. She's good at that.

Please tell me Rhiannon is kicking ass in The Ripple Effect?

So far, she's holding her own. Unfortunately, she's prone to get herself into a whole lot of trouble. I was thinking about that today, actually. By the fourth book, I might have to cut the girl a break. *laugh*

You tweeted some Disco goodness today. Give us a line. Just one.

From which book? *grin*

How about both? Of the smutty variety. (Bells likes a smutty Disco!)

Okay, you greedy girl.

The Renfield Syndrome:

"You have a lot to answer for, love. I can't decide if I want to take you to my bed and bust that perfect ass of yours" -- his hand came down, cupping my right buttock -- "or rip off your clothing and take you here and now against the wall."

The Ripple Effect:

"Foreplay makes anticipation so much better." Disco's blond hair tickled my nose as he lifted his head, eased his hand from between my legs, and stared me in the eye. "Doesn't it?"

*picks self from off of floor*  WHOOOOOOO!  Was it as good for you as it was for me?  *wiggles brows*

JA Saare's Disco:  Oliver Jackson-Cohen

I can't wait until The Renfield Syndrome comes out! :) And Rhiannan does seem to get herself in troubles, but finds a difficult way out. ;) I'm really looking forward to the risks you are taking. You live out of the box and I like it! Great pics of Disco! He fits my images sooooo nicely. ;) Thanks! Love the teasers too!
