They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't-or won't-understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.
Eternal Rider is the 1st book in a new series by one of my favorite authors Larissa Ione!  We were introduced to the main character Ares in book 5 of Larissa's Demonica series, Sin Undone.   Ares is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and he is War.  He is in danger of having his seal broken and if that happens, War will break out everywhere.  Unfortunately, the person that is trying to break his seal is his brother and fellow Horseman Reseph.  He is Pestilence and his seal was broken when Sin from the Demonica Series created the Warg virus.  Reseph is one mean mofo and will do anything in his power to break the seals so that his siblings can become evil just like he is.  Ares must find his agimortus which is the can not only save him, but also break his seal if destroyed.  An Agimortus can be a person, thing, or event.  Through certain events, his agimortus becomes a human woman by the name of Cara.  Ares must now protect Cara from Reseph and while under his care, the two develop an attraction to one another that they never expected would happen.

Cara was able to bring out something in Ares that he had never experienced before.  Ares was rough and kind of abrasive before meeting Cara, but she was able to soften him up and there were some very sweet and touching scenes between the two of them.  They were actually perfect for each other since Cara has a gift with animals.  Ares has a tattoo of his horse Battle on his arm and the horse actually appears when he calls to it.  They all make a great team.

I enjoy Larissa's writing and I can't wait for the future books in this series.  We got the chance to learn about the Horsemen and they are all so interesting.  Limos is Famine and her book is next.  I think she is going to be a strong female character and see lots of great tension coming in her book. I love tension between male and female characters.  Then there is Thantos who is Death.  I already know that I love him and cannot wait for his book!  Rounding out the series will be Reseph's book.  I'm curious to see how this is all going to work out since his seal has been broken and he's evil.  He also has some interesting scenes in Eternal Rider and his evilness balances out the storyline to make it more interesting.

I'm giving Eternal Rider a rating of:
