In the shadows of the night, Darian has lived alone for almost a century. Made and abandoned by her former love, Darian is the last of her kind—an immortal Shaede who can slip into darkness as easily as breathing. With no one else to rely on, she has taught herself how to survive, using her unique skills to become a deadly assassin.

When Darian's next mark turns out to be Xander Peck, King of the Shaede Nation, her whole worldview is thrown into question. Darian begins to wonder if she's taken on more than her conscience will allow. But a good assassin never leaves a job unfinished...
In book 1 of this exciting new series the main character Darian is a Shaede.  She is an immortal that maintains a corpeal form during the day and at night can easily slip into the shadows.  She's the only one of her kind that she knows of and her ability to disappear makes her job as an assassin an easy one. But she meets her match when she is given a job by her boss Tyler to assassinate Xander Peck.  Xander is a shaede as well and Darian is beyond shocked when she realizes that she's not the only one and was lied to by her maker.  It's at this point that we get to see a different side to Darian.  When it comes to her job she's good at it, but she's extremely vulnerable and we learn so much more about her past and how she became a shaede.  Her relationship with her boss Tyler changes at this point as well.  He's been hinting to her that he has feeling for her and there is a definite attraction between them.  Darian doesn't want to combine business with pleasure and tries her best not to give into that attraction, but Tyler is really irresistible, cares for her, and has her best interests at heart.  She gets to see this as the storyline progresses and also realizes that there is much more to him than what she previously thought.  I really enjoyed their relationship and loved how they both got to learn more about one another.  Darian also learns more about herself and realizes that her inner strength has helped make her into the woman that she is today.  She's going to need that inner strength to help deal with what is to come in the book.

I'm giving Shaedes of Grey a rating of:
Photobucket

The storyline of Shaedes of Grey was constantly changing and that is something that I love when I read a book!  I just didn't know what to expect next and there were surprises and shocking moments throughout the book.  There's nothing more that I enjoy than meeting exciting new characters and there were plenty in this book.  This was a great start to this new series and I can't wait to see what happens next.
