Dinosaur Lovin' & Review: Eternal Pleasure

A couple of weeks ago I learned some news that made me say "Oh my gawd!" out loud. I said it loud enough that my husband and kids stopped what they were doing (complaining and playing video games) to see what I was talking about. I was on the computer and right on the screen were these words: Dinosaurs were shape shifters and Triceratops never existed!

My love for Dinosaurs began when I was a child of course. My little brother Marky came home from school one day singing songs about T. Rex and Triceratops and what do you know, those 2 are my favorites. So I was appalled to read that scientists are now saying that Triceratops never existed. Scientists say that Triceratops is the juvenile form of a another dinosaur by the name of Torosaurus. As the animal aged, its horns changed shape and that bony plate at the top of it's head became longer, thinner and less jagged. Now as far as Dinosaurs being able to shape shift, it wasn't a insta-morph type of thing, but that they totally changed appearance from childhood to adulthood. I thought this news was awesome and it made the wheels in my head began to turn. What if an author did a paranormal romance book about shape shifting (insta-morph type) dinosaurs?! I mean there are all kind of shape shifter books out there. There's weres, lions (I love you Curran!) cheetahs, and all kinds of shifters. I shared the news about Dinosaurs being shape shifters on Twitter and got all kinds of responses from people that got everyone really curious. I also threw it out there for the authors to read to alert them that they might want to get up on this dino shape shifting concept for their books. I mean dinosaurs can be sexy, right? (chuckles) Then one of my Twitter buddies alerted me that they was already a series that dealt with dinosaurs. I had to read it right away! And that my friends brings me to the review below. If you're interested in learning anymore about this subject of dinosaurs, just type it in into any search engine and you should see lots of articles about the subject.

Name: Eternal Pleasure

Author: Nina Bangs

THE ELEVEN—an alliance of ultimate predators. Primal, lethal, irresistible.

THE PROPHECY—an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on 12-21-12.

THE PREY—where can you hide from pure evil?

Kelly Maloy opens her car door to much more than a great looking stranger at the Houston airport. Terror, desire, and a horrible truth climb in with him. She’s only supposed to drive Ty Endeka around the city for a few weeks. Too bad no one tells her that once day fades she’ll become part of a battle fought in the darkened streets with an enemy that isn’t human. And the sensual man who feeds her fantasies hides a soul that gives new meaning to animal magnetism.

Eleven Gods of the Night…

The only creatures more deadly are the ones they’ve been summoned to destroy.

When my Twitter buddy Txbookjunkie told me that there was a romance series that involved dinosaurs I knew I just had to read it! Curiosity got the best of me and the next day that I worked (I work in a library), I ran to the shelf to get books 1 & 2 so I could read them. Eternal Pleasure did not disappoint. Nina Bangs did an excellent job combining Dinosaur souls with the body of a man. Here is what Eternal Pleasure is all about.

Ty Endeka has been in a deep sleep for 65 million years! Yes, you read that correctly. You see Ty was once a Dinosaur, a Tyrannosaurs Rex. His soul was pulled from his dinosaur body and placed deep in the Earth before the asteroid hit. He wakes up in the future on 11/11/11 at exactly 11:11 p.m. and is now in the body of a man. The first thing Ty remember is that he used to be a predator, and he's reading to do all that again. He now realizes that he can't rip off the head of another dinosaur or have a quickie behind the bushes because he is now in the body of a human and humans don't behave that way. His primal instinct is strong that he gives off vibes that scares everyone around him. He has to learn very quickly that he needs to blend in as best as he can. He is brought to Houston, TX to join the other men who he will be working with. His driver Kelly has a hard time dealing with him because Ty gives off lots of sexual vibes. That's all he can seem to think about. Well that and wanting to rip the flesh off of something. Kelly has been hired by a man by the name of Fin to drive Ty wherever he needs to be. We learn later on there is a lot more than meets the eye regarding all the characters of the book.

Fin is the leader of a group of men that are named Gods of the Night. They are a group of 11 different dinosaurs that are now in the bodies of men. Fin has given them names that are abbreviations of the type of dinosaur that they once were and Kelly has a fun time throughout the book figuring out what time of dinosaur they are. My favorites are the Raptor triplets! Their names are Utah, Tor, and Rap, which is short for Utahraptors and they are very naughty boys! Here is a quote:

"And yeah, we're triplets. We do everything together. Everything." His emphasis on the last word suggested that making love with all three at once would be a life-altering experience."

Hubba, hubba.

The Gods of the Night have to hunt down and destroy their enemies whose main goal is to destroy humanity. There are 10 of them. The leader is called Zero and his minions are numbered 1 through 9 by Fin. Number 9 is in Houston, TX and is recruiting all sorts of bad folk to do his dirty business. It is up to The Gods of the Night to track him down and put a stop to it. Along the way, they meet other nonhumans that decide to help them fight. These nonhumans include vamps, shape-shifters, demons, and lycans. The leader of the vamps in this area is Jude and he has a great chance of landing on the Book Boyfriend list. Here are quotes involving Jude:

  • Riding boots. Kelly just bet he had lots of riding skills. His gaze slid to her, and he smiled--all smooth, sensual invitation, "You'd be surprised how well I ride."
  • "Way to defuse a situation. It's tough to enjoy a good bloodbath in the middle of a PowerPoint presentation."
This book was such a fun read that I'm giving Eternal Pleasure *4* Bells:

I didn't know what to expect when I heard about this book. I thought this concept was very interesting and creative and I'm so happy that someone took the time to write about it. I cannot wait to start book 2 of the series Eternal Craving soon so that I can read more about this interesting group of characters. So the next time you think of Dinosaurs imagine what it would be like for them to be alive today and how crazy it would be to interact with them. I wouldn't mind meeting those Raptor triplets. ;)

  8. If I weren't already immediately drawn to the book (HELLO DINOSAURS!!), the fact that it's set in Houston, TX would definitely make me put this near the top of my TBR list. Thanks for the heads up and the awesome review! xoxoxo
