Giveaway: It's Time to Share the Love!!

It's the 13th of the month so that means it's time to give away a book that I want to share! I call this giveaway Share the Love!

Let me tell you why I want to share this book with you. I wasn't a huge fan of Urban Fantasy before I read this book. I was so into Paranormal Romance and vamps that I didn't seem to enjoy reading UF books. Well this book changed all of that for me. I kept reading reviews and comments on how everyone had enjoyed this book. So I took a chance and picked it up. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down! It was so exciting and introduced me to a whole new genre that I enjoy so much! So not only to I peruse the romance section at Borders, I spend time in the UF section looking at which books I can read next. So here is the book that I want to share with you this month:

Mind Games by Carolyn Crane!

Here is what Mind Games is all about:

JUSTINE KNOWS SHE’S GOING TO DIE. ANY SECOND NOW.

Justine Jones has a secret. A hardcore hypochondriac, she’s convinced a blood vessel is about to burst in her brain. Then, out of the blue, a startlingly handsome man named Packard peers into Justine’s soul and invites her to join his private crime-fighting team. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime deal. With a little of Packard’s hands-on training, Justine can weaponize her neurosis, turning it outward on Midcity’s worst criminals, and finally get the freedom from fear she’s always craved. End of problem.

Or is it? In Midcity, a dashing police chief is fighting a unique breed of outlaw with more than human powers. And while Justine’s first missions, including one against a nymphomaniac husband-killer, are thrilling successes, there is more to Packard than meets the eye. Soon, while battling her attraction to two very different men, Justine is plunging deeper into a world of wizardry, eroticism, and cosmic secrets. With Packard’s help, Justine has freed herself from her madness—only to discover a reality more frightening than anyone’s worst fears.

I loved the characters in this book as well as all the twists and turns. This book made such an impression on me that I thought about it for days! I'm anxious to read the 2nd book, Double Cross, when it comes out in September.

  1. My favorite genres are, and always will be, paranormal romance and urban fantasy (Adult and YA). They both have their draws for me. I love the non-human characters and the so-far-from-reality-worlds because they allow me to ESCAPE! I am a future social worker, and I believe these books will be of GREAT value to me when I'm working in the field. :) I've been a fan of vampires since The Lost Boys, and it has introduced me to other supernatural beings, such as weres, zombies, witches, pixies, fae, demons, weather wardens, bean sidhes, shadowhunters, lord of the underworld, etc. :)

    And then there's the romance...

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. My favorite genre is science fiction romance, but I love so many others. A close second is steampunk, then paranormal romance, urban fantasy, historical romance, etc.

  3. This looks like a great book. I think I already have it written down in my overflowing wishlist notebook. My favorite genre is urban fantasy. The stories are always interesting and exciting, and still fulfill my inner fantasy nerd. I'm a big dork for magic!

  4. I love Urban Fantasy. SciFi is usually too different for me with the alien worlds, cultures, races, etc. whereas UF is just different enough from the real world to be a total escape, yet not so different that it's a complete chore to read and absorb it. Also, the romance factor is usually just about right. I like it to be present but not to be the complete focus of the story.

I'd love to read Mind Games. It's at the top of my wishlist right now.

  9. My favourite genre is normally the one I have just read. I read across genre and about the only genre I avoid is the type of pretentious literary fiction where the author seems to think they are too good for 'ordinary' readers.

  11. My favorite genre is contemporary romance. I started reading Harlequin romance novels when I was in middle school and haven't looked back. There's something about that HEA that I can not resist. I haven't read as much contemp romance lately because I've discovered PNR, but it's still my favorite.

  14. I love Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance but lean more towards PNR because not only do you have the fantastic imaginative worlds with otherworldy characters... But you also get SMEX and Happily Ever Afters which are now a must in my books :)

  15. I've always been a big fan of contemporary romance. Nora Roberts was my favorite author for 15 years, and now Megan Hart has taken that honor. Lately, I've been leaning more towards erotica, PNR, and UF lately. It took me a while to get into UF, but I read a few that changed my mind about the whole genre and now I think I might be a little obsessed.

You already have my email! =)
