Review: Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
Author: Gini Koch
Author's website: http://www.ginikoch.com/
Available to buy at Amazon
When I saw this book for the first time, the title totally pulled me in. Then I took a look at the cover and said "I have to read this book!" I am so glad that I did. Touched by an Alien is a fun read. Here is a small excerpt of the book:
Marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt joins forces with gorgeous aliens from Alpha Centauri to protect the Earth, kick evil alien butt, and save the day with hairspray and rock and roll - not necessarily in that order.
I like Kitty because she is a stong heroine right from the start. Kitty is thrown into the action literally from the first page and she handles it well. She has fast reflexes and her mind works even faster. Because of this she manages to save lots of lives. The Alpha Centauri aliens notice this and want her on their side. The Alpha Centauri aliens are all gorgeous and have a fondness for Armani. Kitty has reservations at first but learns that her life as well as her loved ones is on the line. She decides to work with aliens to keep Earth safe from "fugly" aliens. Yes I said fugly because that is how they are described in the book. The very first Alpha Centauri alien that Kitty meets is Martini, Jeff Martini, and he is one unforgettable character! You will fall in love with Martini because not only is he gorgeous and has an incredible sex drive, but because he is a great guy and truly cares for Kitty. Lately I have been reading some incredible books with stong female characters, and right beside these women are men who are so supportive and loving to those women! Martini is definitely one of those men. He sees greatness and strength in Kitty right from the beginning.
The book also has some of the best lines and will have you laughing from start to finish. Here are some examples:
"You come from Planet Hunk, sent to Earth to protect and serve. And make the ladies happy.
"As an example, I can make love for 12 hours straight"
"Once you go alien, you really do never go back"
And there is the one quote that you hear throughout the book from Martini: "Marry Me"
Touched by an Alien is a fun and entertaining read! But there is one downside to the book that I felt took away from it. Too many questions are asked. At one point there is so much dialog going on I started yelling "Get on with it and just tell her". Poor Kitty has to ask a million questions just to find out information that the aliens are withholding from her. She is a smart cookie and figures it out all on her own. Maybe the author did it that way to show us that Kitty is one hell of a woman.
I'm going to give Touched by an Alien 3.75 stars! Why 3.75? Because it's not quite 3.50 and all that dialog doesn't allow it to be 4.00. Hey, call me weird if you want!
Touched by an Alien is definitely worth a read. I will be anxious to find out what happens next in book 2 of the series, Alien Tango, which will be released on December 7, 2010.
Until next time, Live long and prosper. (That was so lame Bells)

*chanting* LOVER MINE! LOVER MINE! LOVER MINE! LOVER MINE! LOVER MINE!
YES IT IS HERE! FINALLY THE DAY HAS COME! I don't know about you, but I am so excited and can't wait to tear open this book and read it! Well, not tear it open. You know what I mean.
I know you all know what the book is about, but I thought I would put this here anyway:
John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown. Taken in by The Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was-or his true identity.
Xhex has long steeled herself against the attraction to John Matthew. Until fate intervenes and she discovers that love, like destiny, is inevitable.
So there you go folks! That's it for me! If there are other books coming out this week or for the next couple of weeks I don't know anything about them. My mind has been wrapped around this book for so long, that this one post is about Lover Mine.
So if there are any other books being released this week, let me know. :D

Book Giveaway!
How do you like my fancy pic? LOL! Now let's get serious! I'm sure you're wondering what book I will be giving away right? Well, it's a book that I am currently obsessed over. I read this book and fell in love with it instantly! It really is good from start to finish. Huh? What's that you said? "Just get to it!" Okay, fine! The first book that I will be giving away in my new monthly contest is:
Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between by the talented J.A. Saare!
Here is a quick synopsis of the book:
One bad corpse can ruin your whole day. No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy. She’s left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance; she’s managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her – until now.
The deliciously good-looking vampire Disco knows her secret, and when he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, she discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no.
But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.
Awesome huh?! I guarantee you that you will love this book! And Disco. He is one unforgettable character!

Review of Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between
Author: J.A. Saare

Here is a synopsis of Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between:

Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.
If you are looking for a book that is great from start to finish this is the book for you! I did not want to stop reading this book at all. I wanted everything to disappear from my life just so I could continue reading it.
The heroine of this book is Rhiannon and she is by far one of the coolest female characters that I have read in a long time. The author includes these sayings that are called "Rhiannon's Law" that are very witty, clever, and if you think about it, very true. Rhiannon is a force to be reckoned with. She doesn't take any crap from anyone. How cool is that! I love the fact that she doesn't rely on anyone but herself. She mainly is this way because of something that has happened in the past, but, I think it shows how strong she really is. How refreshing is it to see a female character that is so strong willed and in charge of her own destiny.
Rhiannon has to deal with someone who has become on of my favorite new characters. A vampire named Disco. Disco is the perfect package, because he and Rhiannon can throw the jabs back and forth to each other and the banter between them is hilarious. He is also drop dead gorgeous and that is something that Rhiannon realizes at the beginning of the book. She is attracted to him but doesn't let it show and that leads to a lot of sexual tension between the characters. Disco also has this sense of power and confidence that I love in a male character. You get to learn more about Disco throughout the book and I loved learning more about his character. Disco has now become Book Boyfriend #2! Check out my list on the left.
We also get to meet other characters that are just as important to the story and just as interesting. All of the characters blend together well to create this realistic world in which vampires live in. There is lots of action and mystery that doesn't leave you bored. There have been many times that I have read a book and wanted the author to just spill the beans to get it over with. Not this book. I wanted it to never end. I was so sad to read the last page because I knew that book 2 of the series, The Renfield Syndrome, will not be out until the late Summer.
I loved this book so much I'm giving it 5 Bells!
I don't really think I can convey how much I enjoyed this book. It was well written by this new author, and if this is an indication of how well her writing will be in the future, I for one can't wait to see what she has in store for her readers! Visit her site to read excerpts of this wonderful book!

Review of the Awakening Heroes Series
Book One
A man with no future...
When Dr. Elliott Drake wakes from a mysterious fifty-year sleep, the world as he knew it is gone. Cities are now desolate, and civilization is controlled by deadly immortals. Stranger still is Elliott's extraordinary new "gift" – he has the power to heal, but it comes with fatal consequences.
A woman with a past
Jade barely escaped the immortals and is now hell-bent on revenge. She trusts no one... until Elliott. His piercing gaze and tempting touch shatter her defenses, but the handsome doctor seems to have dangerous secrets of his own. Is it safe to trust him with her heart?
If they are to survive in this dark new world, Jade and Elliott must work together to fight the forces that takes them beyond danger.
Beyond desire.
Beyond the night.
-Book One of the series was exciting because we don't really know what cause the world to change the way it did. The characters awake to find the world is a very different place. Some of them have powers that allow them to do different things and they learn more about their powers everyday. Elliott is a doctor and is the main character of this book and his power is the ability to heal. His power has some challenges and Elliott has to learn how to control it. The characters soon meet others that can provide some information as to what has happened. Jade is able to bring them to the right people and they band together to get to the bottom of things. Along the way Elliott and Jade get paired up together and get to know each other a little better.
I loved this book. You will hear that repeated will the next books as well. This book introduced the characters for the series very well. I gave this book 4 Bells!
Book Two
Everything they knew is gone.
From the raging fires, five men emerge with extraordinary new powers. They must learn how to survive this dark, ravaged world ... but they cannot do it alone.
Simon Japp will never forget his violent past. But when civilization is all but destroyed, he sees his chance for redemption. Blessed with a strange "gift," he's determined to help the resistance against the Strangers, the mysterious force that stalks them at every turn. He can't afford to get distracted, even by the stunning, soft-spoken woman fighting by his side...
Sage Corrigan has learned to be careful where she places her trust. But she sees something good in Simon, even if he can't see it in himself. Posing as lovers to infiltrate a group key to their fight, they find that their staged affection soon develops into a desire that will leave them fighting for their lives in the night eternal...
-Book 2 of the series picks up where Book 1 left off. It was almost as if the 2 books were one! I love that. In Book 2 we get the chance to learn more about the characters as well as what happened to cause the world to end the way it did. We also get to learn more about Simon who is one of the characters that has special powers. You will fall for Simon because he has a quiet mystery about him. He is mysterious, lethal, and sexy! Simon is paired up with Sage in this book and the two of them go on a mission to look for a missing and important person. Along the way Simon and Sage learn more about each other. Simon fights his attraction to Sage because he feels that his past has made him this horrible person. Sage doesn't care because she sees Simon for who he really is.
Book 2 was just as exciting as Book 1. I'm going to give Embrace the Night Eternal 4 Bells as well!
Book Three
Everything they knew is gone.
From the raging fires, five men emerge with extraordinary new powers. They are humankind's last hope ... but they cannot survive this dark, ravaged world alone...
Quentin Fielding had everything. Money. Power. Women. But now that civilization is all but annihilated, Quent only wants one thing: revenge. Harnessing a strange new "gift," he embarks on a deadly mission to find the the man responsible for the chaos and destruction, the man he should have killed years ago: his father. Only one thing stands in his way – a mysterious, arrow-wielding beauty...
Zoe Kapoor is on her own quest for vengeance, searching for the monstrous fiends who murdered her family. Soon she and Quent join together, journeying through the ruins of the world they once knew as a desperate desire builds between them. Drawing closer to an enemy they never imagined, Zoe and Quent must abandon all fear, abandon all regret, abandon the night ... if they want to stay alive.
-Book 3 was my favorite out of the 3! There was so much action in this book. The characters have found out much more information about what has taken place. We also get to see more Quent and Zoe action. They have been involved with each other since Book 1 and they are the hottest couple of the 3 books. I love Quents British accent and British sayings. Zoe is a strong female character and is so bad ass! They really make the perfect couple.
I'm going to give Book 3 4 Bells as well!
-This series is so unique. It has everything you are looking for in a book. Action, mystery, romance, and a realistic view of a post apocalypse world. There are so many twists and turns and I for one can't wait for Book 4 to be released in January 2011. This series is a definite must read!

New Releases for 4/6/10
Books
Lion's Heat by Lora Leigh is latest release in her Breeds Series. I own book one and have not read any of these. Here is a small blurb about the book:
The mating urge cannot be ignored...
Bad boy Jonas Wyatt knows it is fate that Rachel becomes his mate. He can sense it. He can also sense her reluctance. But she has little power over the mating heat of the Breeds. It is Jonas's destiny to claim her. And nothing will stop him from having his way.
- I really need to because everyone seems to be talking about them all the time and it seems like I'm missing out on something! My hot momma Twimom loves this series! By the way, if you aren't following her blog you are missing out! Here's a link to it: http://twimom227.blogspot.com/
\
Hell Fire is book 2 in the Corine Solomon Series by Ann Aguire. This is another series that I have not read. I won book 1, Blue Diablo, last month in a Twitter contest. I hope to read this series soon as well. Here is what Hell Fire is all about:
The second in the thrilling national bestselling series
As a handler, Corine Solomon can touch any object and know its history. It's too bad she can't seem to forget her own. With her ex-boyfriend Chance in tow-lending his own supernatural brand of luck-Corine journeys back home to Kilmer, Georgia, in order to discover the truth behind her mother's death and the origins of "gift".
But while trying to uncover the secrets in her past, Corine and Chance find that something is rotten in the state of Georgia. Inside Kilmer's borders there are signs of a dark curse affecting the town and all its residents-and it can only be satisfied with death...
Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison is book 8 in the Rachel Morgan Series. I was recommended this series by Jules and she absolutely loves it! If I have the time I am going to try to read this series as well. Here is a what Black Magic Sanction is all about:
Rachel Morgan has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter—and lived to tell the tale. But she's never faced off against her own kind . . . until now. Denounced and shunned for dealing with demons and black magic, her best hope is life imprisonment—at worst, a forced lobotomy and genetic slavery. Only her enemies are strong enough to help her win her freedom, but trust comes hard when it hinges on the unscrupulous tycoon Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief.
It takes a witch to catch a witch, but survival bears a heavy price.
Touched by an Alien is by Gini Koch. I love the title of this book. That is what made me want to find out more info about it. Here is a little blurb:
How can a sexy marketing manager join forces with an Alpha Centauri male in Armani to save the planet-using hairspray, a Mont Blanc pen, and rock n' roll?
Easy...
She's Touched by an Alien
Marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt steps into the middle of what appears to be a domestic dispute turned ugly. And it only gets uglier when the man turns into a winged monster, straight out of a grade-Z horror movie, and goes on a killing spree. Though Kitty should probably run away, she springs into action to take the monster down.
In the middle of the chaos a handsome hunk named Jeff Martini appears, sent by the "agency" to perform crowd control. He's Kitty's kind of guy, no matter what planet he's from. And from now on, for Kitty, things are going to be sexy, dangerous, wild, and out of this world.
- I mean how freaking awesome does this books sound! I'll be picking this one up for sure.
Beyond the Darkness is book 6 in the Guardians of Eternity Series by Alexandria Ivy. I have wanted to read this series but haven't gotten around to it. I own book 1 and it is on my TBR list. Here is a small blurb of the book:
Salvatore Giuliani is not a happy werewolf. It's his duty as leader to track down the pureblood females who can keep his people from extinction. But the moment he catches scent of Harley, a pureblood held by a pack of mangy curs, his savage need for her obliterates all other instincts. And the only thing worse than being captured is finding that beautiful, independent Harley defiantly refuses to become his mate. Harley has been taught to distrust all Weres, especially their arrogant king. She won't be used for breeding or bonded against her will, not even to a man who makes every nerve tingle with awareness. Yet Salvatore is her key to saving the family she never knew she had - if she dares to succumb to his dark, predatory desire, and face a vicious enemy sworn to destroy them both...
- I would love to know if anyone has read this series and what they think about it.
Music
Who doesn't love Madonna? This is a CD/DVD of her live concert in Buenos Ares. I don't have the opportunity to go to concerts now so I try to catch as many as I can on DVD. I can't wait to see it!
Movies & TV
I didn't get a chance to catch this show when it was on TV. It seems like an interesting show and Jeremy Renner is in it so it should be enjoyable.
So that's it for this week. If you haven't already, make sure you enter My Very First Giveaway! It's hosted by the wonderful Ivy from Book Reader Times. As always, let me know what New Releases you are looking forward to this week. I love to hear what you guys like.
