Stardust Summer
Top Ten Playlist

There's nothing like a music to set the mood for a party or a relaxing evening at home. The top ten playlist I've chosen for Stardust Summer is an eclectic mix—some happy, some sad, and a few filled with love and longing.

From classic Frank Sinatra to the angst of Avril Lavigne, there's a song for every situation in the story—and I hope that you agree that my Top Ten fits perfectly!

So, grab this playlist, turn up the volume, and cozy up with a copy of Stardust Summer and enjoy.

Stardust Top Ten Playlist

1.  Daniel Powter - Bad Day - This epitomizes Grace's life at the time the story opens.

2. Michael Buble - Hold On - This song reminds me of how Kathleen loves her husband Henry and how awful it would be to lose him.

3. Rascal Flatts - Here Comes Goodbye - The melody and words speak to me in this song. I imagine that this must be what Grace is feeling when she realizes that her father has passed away.

4. Frank Sinatra - Stardust - This song was the inspiration for the title of the book. It's the very tune Kathleen sings at the end of Henry's memorial service. Many artists covered the song like Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, and Nat "King" Cole, but one of the best versions of the song is that of Frank Sinatra's.

5. Norah Jones - Don't Know Why - I've always loved Norah Jones and her smooth, sultry voice. This song brings back memories of sitting by the lake and daydreaming.

6. Christina Aguilera - Hurt - Grace goes through so many emotions during the novel, most of them revolving around her estrangement from Henry. I imagine that this song would be her way of saying that she is sorry; a way of speaking to her father while he's in Heaven.

7. Blake Shelton - Drink On It - Okay, I included this one because Blake Shelton is awfully cute—and there's also the scene in which Grace makes a knee-jerk decision to go on a date with a contractor she's just met. It ends up being a first date disaster, but I do love the lyrics and the suggestiveness of the song.

8. Thompson Square - Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?  This duet is perfect for when Ryan and Grace finally make up and get close to that first connection. They've had sparks flying between them, but Grace, as always, has done her best to put up walls.  On the dock by the lake, after that terrible first date with the contractor, she and Ryan share their first kiss.

9. Avril Lavigne - My Happy Ending - I love the passion and angst in this song. Ryan's done his best throughout the story to win Grace's heart, and she leaves for Mississippi anyway. The lyrics really mirror the regret and hurt he's trying so hard to cover up.

10.   (SPOILER ALERT)

Train - Marry Me - The perfect song for a happy ending!

What do you think? Any other songs I should include on the Stardust Summer soundtrack?

Blurb:
Single mom Grace Mason doesn’t believe in miracles, magic, or love at first sight. She likes the quiet life, complete with her eight-year-old son, their tiny house, and her teaching job. For Grace, happiness means that nothing much ever changes in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Then, one thousand miles away, tragedy strikes. A massive heart attack leaves Grace’s estranged father comatose in an Upstate New York hospital. While a team of doctors fight to keep Henry Mason alive, Grace and Evan rush to his bedside to say their final goodbyes.

Henry’s passing brings little closure for Grace, but she finds herself inexplicably drawn to her new surroundings. What begins as a short trip results in an entire summer spent with Henry’s second wife, Kathleen, and her next-door neighbor, Ryan Gordon, the town doctor. When a series of unlikely events lead to Evan’s disappearance, Grace must face her worst fears to find her son and bring him back home.

Stardust Summer explores the complexities of forgiveness, what it means to be a family, and the fabulous possibility of falling in love—again.
