Thanatos, the most deadly Horseman of the Apocalypse, has endured thousands of years of celibacy to prevent the end of days. But just one night with the wickedly sexy Aegis Guardian, ReganCooper, shatters centuries of resolve. Yet their passion comes with a price. And Thanatos must face a truth more terrifying than an apocalypse-he's about to become a father. After the events of book 2 of the series I couldn't wait to dive into Lethal Rider. With the oncoming apocalypse and the Horseman Pestilence creating havoc all over the world, the remaining 3 Horseman have their hands full trying to protect mankind. Than, the Horseman of Death, is looking for someone who has betrayed him in the previous book. Regan thought that she was doing the right thing for the group that she works with Aegis, by getting pregnant with Than's baby. They believe that by doing so, it will help save mankind. The only thing on Than's mind is getting to Regan and making her pay for her betrayal. But once he realizes that she's carrying his baby his intentions change as he does all he can to keep Regan and the baby safe. We get to see a whole new side to Than and it was wonderful getting to see him be tender and loving. His character is so interesting and you truly feel for him and his siblings as they try to do whatever they can to protect mankind.
Demon-slayer Regan Cooper never imagined herself the maternal type, but with the fate of the world hanging in the balance she had no choice but to seduce Thanatos and bear his child. Now, as the final battle draws closer and his rage at being betrayed is overshadowed by an undeniable passion for the mother of his child, Thanatos has a life-shattering realization: To save the world, he must sacrifice the only thing he's ever wanted-a family.
Although I wasn't a huge fan of Regan's character, I do think that she felt what she was doing was the right thing. She believes in the Aegis strongly due to the fact that they are really the only family that she has ever known. She doesn't want to give into the hope that one day she can have a family with the baby that she is carrying as well as it's father. She does her best to fight it for as long as she can until she realizes just how much Than cares about her. I loved reading the touching scenes between the two of them and am happy with how it all played out.
I'm giving Lethal Rider a rating of:
Lethal Rider had so many exciting moments as the characters are in a race to save mankind. Characters from the authors Demonica series show up throughout the book and I enjoyed seeing them interact with the characters of this series. Since this series is a spin off of that one, it's great to see the storylines interwoven together. Lethal Rider was entertaining and because it's the 2nd to the last book, kicks the excitement level up a notch as the series will soon come to a close.
