HE’S PLAYING GAMES

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she’s stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she’s still wildly attracted to him.

BUT SHE’S MAKING THE RULES

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn’t thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case — but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can’t say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won’t give up on something he wants — and what he wants is the one woman he’s never forgotten...
When Kyle Rhodes locks eyes with Assistant U.S. Attorney Rylann Pierce in the courtroom for the first time, he's instantly surprised to see the woman he met 9 years ago.  However things are a bit different as Kyle is in the courtroom from after being convicted for a crime and Rylann is the prosecutor.  The attraction that they once had is still felt between the two of them but because it wouldn't be a good thing for anything to happen between them, Rylann keeps things between them strictly business.  Kyle can't seem to get Rylann out of his mind and when the opportunity arises for him to be near her again, he'll do whatever is necessary to help her out.  He hopes that Rylann can look past him being an "ex-con" and that yes he's made a mistake, but it's not who he really is. He is the same man that she met 9 years ago and she's the only thing he's ever wanted.  I enjoyed reading them slowly fall in love and Julie James does a great job with the pace of it.  It's not a simple situation and it takes time.  I'm so happy that it wasn't rushed because we get to learn so much about these two characters.

I absolutely adored Kyle's character and loved that the readers thinks of him as this rich, bad boy when we first get to know him.  But that's not him at all.  Yes he may be rich and famous, but that's not all of what he is.  He's a person who's had his heart broken and has lived his life in the public eye.  So when he does meet Rylann and gets to know her, it's refreshing to him to have a woman that he can mentally and verbally spar with.  Rylann can see past the handsome face with the scruff to see the real Kyle and that is who she falls for.  I liked her character as well because she is very professional and understands how much her career means to her. These two were hot together and I could feel the attraction between them.  From their initial interaction to their hot, smoking sex scenes!  These 2 were meant for each other and Julie james did a great job of showing that.

I'm giving About That Night a rating of:

Kyle's journey from the beginning to the end of the story was an emotional one.  His desire to confide in Rylann about his past and what he envisions for his future allowed them to grow closer together.  Previous characters in the series also made an appearance it was nice to see them all together.  I can't wait to read the next book in the series as we get a small clue as to who the next book might be about.  Everyone's falling in love in Chicago and no one is immune.
