Author Q&A and Giveaway: Stephanie Tyler

PhotobucketI'm so excited to have author Stephanie Tyler on the blog today.  She's got a new series out called The Eternal Wolf Clan and it's about Dire Wolves!  How cool is that?

Welcome to Hanging With Bells Stephanie!  Tell us a little about yourself.

Thanks so much for having me here!  Let’s see – I’m currently working at my dream job of author – I write paranormal romance and romantic suspense and I co-author paranormal erotica as Sydney Croft.  I’m busy and I love it!  I’m also married to my hero (no, really, he’s the coolest guy ever and I’ve known him 17 years this June 3rd (our first date) and I’ve got 2 great kids and a crazy dog.

PhotobucketYour newest release is Dire Needs.  It's about Dire Wolves that are shifters.  What makes your wolves different than other wolves that we are used to reading in PNR?

My wolves are the last of their kind – there are six remaining Dire Wolves in existence and they’re bigger and stronger than the Weres, who were created later.  My Dires all have abilities they were born with (except for Rifter, who got his a bit differently) and so they were feared for a long time when they were growing up.  Now they use those abilities to help the Weres and humans as they keep them safe from other supernaturals – and sometimes from themselves.

When I saw the cover of Dire Needs I just knew that I had to read it because of the motorcycle.  Motorcycles and leather jackets definitely add to the bad boy image.  Is there a bad boy in your book?  *crossing fingers*

They are ALL bad boys J  No, really, come on, those are my favorite kind to write, because they absolutely fall the hardest.  The one who has it really hard is probably Vice, because he has all the vices inside of him – he’s pulled to excess at all times and he’s got the ability to pull everyone in his path along with him, which makes him quite interesting.

How many books do you plan on having in the series?

Right now, I’m contracted for three but I have stories planned for at least double that, so fingers crossed that readers enjoy and I’m blessed enough to be able to tell them all!

You have also written books in the contemporary and suspense romance genre.  Do you have a favorite and is there a genre that you haven't tackled yet that you would like to?

I really like writing suspense in general – and so no matter what you’re reading of mine, there’s going to be a lot of suspense in the books.  I remember my editor being surprised at how suspenseful Dire Needs actually was!  Something I’d like to try tackling might be writing in first person, an Urban Fantasy, because I feel like that’s so different from the way I typically write.

Most writers are also readers, so what's some of your favorite books that you have read lately that you enjoyed?  Are they any releases that you are looking forward to reading that are coming out this year as well?

Linda Howard, Suzanne Brockmann, Cherry Adair and J.R. Ward are some of my go-to authors, my comfort reads, so while I’m always looking forward to their books, I typically find myself rereading their older ones!

Will you be releasing books in your other series in the future?

Yep – my new romantic suspense series starts in Summer 2013 and it’s called Section 8.  And I’m hoping to write a long novella to finish off my Shadow Force series sometime in late 2012 as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog Stephanie!

  19. I am really looking forward to reading this series. Paranormals are probably my favorites right now, I love how each series is different in some way. The author can choose what types of characters they want (vampires, shifters, demons, angels, etc), what the "rules/legends" are true for their characters, the reason for this (curse, nanos, other science, alien, etc), and so on. They are only limited by their imaginations, nothing is impossible.
