Tell It To Bells: My Favorite Christmas Movies!

Christmas is almost upon us and I thought it would be fun to share my favorite Christmas movies!  I watch these same movies every year and they bring back some good memories as I watch some of them with my children.

My top 8 favorite Christmas Movies!
(Why 8?  Well because...why not? Hee Hee!)

Elf

Will Farrell is downright adorable in this movie and the scenes when he first arrives in New York is hilarious! I laugh so much while watching this movie and enjoy watching it with the kiddies!

#7
Gremlins

Okay so this movie may not be an actual Christmas movie, but the entire movie takes place during the holiday and just about everything Christmas related is in it. Trees, ornaments, Gremlins hanging from 3wreaths and singing carols. Aweome Christmas music. I mean who doesn't love "Do you hear what i hear"  One of my favorite scenes of the movie is when the Gremlin is in the Christmas tree and attacks Billy's mom.  That was crazy!

#6
Love Actually

Photobucket

Such a feel good movie filled with so many great actors and actresses!  I loved them all in this movie and the ending of this movie makes me cry like a baby every single time.  I dear you to watch the end and tell me it doesn't make you cry.   I double dog dare you to watch it...NO I triple dog dare you to watch it and see if it doesn't make you shed a tear!

I know the video quality is not the best, but I couldn't find another one that I could put on here.  There is a better quality one that you can find here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdwmtE_5v00

#5
A Charlie Brown Christmas

Photobucket

This was the year that my kids finally started to enjoy everything Charlie Brown and I'm so happy!  They really couldn't remember watching this the previous year, but I bet you if I asked them about a video game they would remember that.

#4
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Photobucket

OMG this movie is AWESOME!  It definitely makes me laugh the hardest and Clark W. Griswold and his cousin Eddie (crazy ass Randy Quaid) have so many great scenes together in this movie.   This and the #1 movie is the one movie I can't wait to watch tonight!

#3
Grinch That Stole Christmas
Photobucket

I love this cartoon! I was born and raised in Springfield, MA, the birthplace of Dr. Seuss as well, so everything Seuss was always such a big part of everyone's upbringing in that city.  But there is something special about The Grinch that makes him stand out from all of Seuss's other characters. Perhaps it's because I can relate to him.  Yes folks, I can be a Grinch at Christmas time.  LOL  I just don't get into it like I used to be. (Yeah the kids have made me brain dead)  My hubs has actually started calling me Mrs. Grinch...but I think that might be for another reason.  That prick!

#2
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Good old Rudolph.  Who doesn't love him huh?  He is full of wonder and magic and just makes you feel like a kid when you sing his song.  He was totally bullied and didn't it just make you feel good when it all worked out for him?!  Just full of so much awesomeness!

And my #1 Christmas movie pick is...*drumroll*
#1
Christmas Story
"You'll shoot your eye out!"
Photobucket

RALPHIE!  This is the mofo Christmas movie for me every year!  I can remember watching it for the very 1st time when I was a young one with my cousin and we laughed so hard when Ralphie went down the slide after Santa pushed him down with his foot.  I can hear Santa saying, "Ho...Ho...Ho." in my head right now and I'm giggling.  I mean let's be honest, Ralphie's family was pretty nuts!  His father's obsessiveness with his leg lamp.  His mom doing all she can so that her husband couldn't enjoy the lamp. Little brother Randy eating his food like he was a pig at a trough.  *happy sigh*  It all worked and makes this movie so special that it's a Christmas favorite for so many.  I watch this movie over and over every year starting from Christmas Eve through Christmas morning on TBS and hubs hates it.  Well Poo on you hubby, this is the movie that actually puts Mrs. Grinch in the Christmas spirit!  I can't wait to see it!

So you may notice that there are not any classics listed on this list. To be honest with you, I'm not a huge fan of the classics. My mom didn't force us to watch them or anything so I never really saw a lot of them...and I'm okay with that. lol

Tell It To Bells:
What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!

  1. Have you ever seen Olive The Other Reindeer? It's hysterical, and REM has a song in it! Also, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town is very sweet and romantic...there is a great wedding scene in that animated movie w/ Santa and his bride getting married in an enchanted forest. Sweet!

  2. My #1 fave is the same as yours: A Christmas Story!! I watch the marathon on TBS every year! No matter how many times I've seen it, I still watch and laugh like it's the first time! My boyfriend met someone the other day whose last name was BUMPAS!! LOLOLOL!!! My other Xmas faves are It's A Wonderful Life and Die Hard! Yeah, Die Hard is DEFINITELY my kind of Xmas movie! Um...is it weird that I haven't seen Elf yet?! LOL! I've seen bits of it but I've never watched it straight through. LOL!

  3. I just saw A Christmas Story for the first time this year, and it was a heck of a lot of fun.

  4. I have a couple I guess: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty take me back to the 1960s when I still believed that Christmas would be a lovely time. White Christmas is so iconic and ridiculous that I love it. It's A Wonderful Life is just iconic. And, Love Actually speaks to how as a non-Christian I have come to grips with the holiday. <a href="http://fangswandsandfairydust.blogspot.com” rel=”nofollow”> Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust</a>

  5. I love Christmas Vacation! My favorite part is when Clark goes off when he finds out what his Christmas bonus is. Oh and the squirrel in the Christmas tree.

I can't believe Bad Santa isn't on your list. I love that movie too!

  7. Have noticed everyone mentions Love Actually as their favorite Christmas one.

  8. My all time favorite is Holiday Inn... followed closely by White Christmas and Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, lol. All ones we watched with my mom and dad growing up, and I love them just as much now. I also love Meet Me In St. Louis at Christmastime, because my favorite scene in the movie happens at Christmas, so that makes it a Christmas movie, lol. I'm not a fan of Christmas Carole or It's a Wonderful Life at all, cause they're entirely too sad for holiday viewing, lol. The Santa Claus movies are fun, and I LOVE the first 2 Home Alone movies, too.

  11. I love The Year Without a Santa Clause (Heat Miser and Cold Miser). As far as a "grownup movie" - The Ref with Dennis Leary. Pretty funny! (*whispers* I think I'm the only person on the planet who can't stand A Christmas Story...)
