SHE’S SWEPT INTO TREACHEROUS WATERS

Princess Bria Visconti demands the return of the money her brother rashly invested in Cutter Salvage. Treasure hunter Nick Cutter is too reckless, too arrogant—and far too handsome—for his own good. But he can’t charm his way out of this one. Bria plans to make Nick pay up even if she has to board his boat, don a wet suit, and dive for the treasure herself…

HE FIGHTS THE RELENTLESS PULL…

Nick sees Bria as a beautiful but spoiled princess who’s never done a day’s work in her pampered life. But once they set sail for the dive site, and the legendary fortune in gold the wreck carries, Nick begins to see Bria in a new light. This princess may be out of her depth, but she’s ready to take on the hidden danger and excitement a treasure hunt stirs to the surface. Together they must fight unexpected enemies—and reveal their darkest secrets—before they’re pulled into a rip current of danger.
Treasure hunting, seduction, intrigue, and danger.  These are some of the main elements in Riptide, book 2 in the Cutter Cay series.  What I like about this series is that Cherry Adair always has a way of making you feel as if you are a part of what is going on at all times throughout the book.  In Riptide the reader gets the chance to travel along with another Cutter brother and this time it is Nick.  Nick is always on the move and is more of an international traveler since he has his hands in a lot of different things at once in different parts of the world.  It can be dangerous at times and the situation that he is dealing with is just that.  While on his newest dive for buried treasure, he allows blood diamonds to be smuggled aboard his ship in the hopes that he can get to the bottom of who is selling them.  He knows that this situation is controversial one and agrees to take part in it in the hopes that it will be stopped one day.   The diamonds aren't the only dangerous thing that he has to deal with.  Princess Bria Visconti searches Nick out in the hopes of getting back the money that her brother invested into his current treasure dive. She needs the money to pay off an outstanding loan and if that isn't done the country that her family has been in charge of for centuries will no longer belong to them.  She care deeply for her country and will do anything to make the situation right.  That includes using her beauty in the hopes that Nick Cutter will give her what she wants.  But Nick sees right through what she is trying to do and lets her know that it won't be happening.  Bria decides to hang around for a few days hoping that Nick will get tired of her and give her the money.  When Bria is attacked on the ship, Nick realizes that he can't trust anyone and that includes Bria herself.  There is danger all around and Nick is also in danger of falling for Bria once he realizes that she is nothing that she seems.

I felt that Nick and Bria were hot, hot, hot together!  I could definitely feel the attraction between the two of them and enjoyed the scenes in where they sparred with one another.  Bria had to keep that princess facade for as long as she could to get what she wanted, but it was nice to see the other side of her and I think that Nick was happy to see it as well.  It was also an element that added to his attraction to her as he was able to see more than just her beauty.  As far as Bria was concerned, she was attracted to Nick from the minute she saw him.  I love that he's always wearing a wet suit and is shirtless.  He was also barefoot through most of the book and like Bria, I found Nick's character irresistible!  He seemed to love and enjoy what he did and it showed through Cherry's writing.

I'm giving Riptide a rating of:
Photobucket

I have to say that I enjoyed book 1 in the series just a tad more that book 2.  There were a couple of times I was confused while reading Riptide and it was because of some of the situations as well as the addition of so many character names.  I did finally manage to get them all and realize what exactly was going on.  Most of this was introduced at the beginning and worked itself through the rest of the book.  Other than that, I enjoyed treasure hunting again and am looking forward to doing it again with the next book in the series.

  1. I may have to give Cherry Adair another try, because in book 1 I really liked Nick & Bria...but if you like bk 1 better, and it was a dnf for me, I'm just not sure about this one.
