I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings.

But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy businessman Owen Grayson’s front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesn’t shy away from my past—or my present. And right now I have a bull’s-eye on my forehead. Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there’s a fifty-fifty chance one of us won’t survive this battle. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too. The only problem is, Bria has no idea I’m her long-lost sibling . . . or that I’m the murderer she’s been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead. . . .
There's a new assassin in the city of Ashland and she's out to kill Gin Blanco.  Gin is also an assassin known as The Spider and she's the best of the best.  The new assassin, LaFleur, has been hired by Mab Monroe, the woman responsible for the death of Gin's family.  Only she and her baby sister Bria survived and now Mab is after them both.  Mab does not know that Gin is The Spider and Gin makes her even more angry by killing Mab's men and leaving her mark at all of the scenes.  This is why Mab has hired LaFleur to track down The Spider and eliminate her.  Once Gin finds out what Mab is up to next, it is on!   She must keep her loved ones safe while looking for a man's daughter that was kidnapped by Mab.  Gin's got her hands full in this book!

Gin's relationship with her boyfriend Owen and her sister Bria evolves in this book.  We get to read some touching scenes between Gin and Owen.  I love that he is so supportive of Gin regardless of her decisions.  He knows there is more to her than her past life of being an assassin and knows that she sometimes has to do things to keep those around her safe.  He comes to her aid in this book and she now knows how much he truly cares about her.  Her sister Bria is a cop and does not know that Gin is her sister or The Spider.  Without spoiling anything, I loved how everything comes full circle for these two in the book and their scenes together truly touched my heart.  Jennifer did a great job writing their scenes.

Last but not least is my favorite character of the book, Finnegan Lane.  I am a part of the I LOVE FINN fan club and look forward to seeing his name on the page.  Finn always puts a smile on my face and I love that he is able to add some comedy to the books because of all the seriousness.  He is attracted to Bria and takes any opportunity he can to flirt with her.  I hope these two end up together because I think they would make a great couple.

I'm giving Tangled Threads a rating of:

If you're a fan of this series you are going to love all the twists and turns in it.  Secrets are revealed and even Gin finds out some info that she clearly did not expect.  I'm looking forward to book 5 of the series Spider's Revenge which will be released in October of this year.  It seems like the series is leading up to a final showdown between Gin and Mab Monroe and I can't wait to have a front row seat to watch it!

Make sure you stop by the blog on May 10, 2011 for my Q&A with Jennifer and giveaway of a copy of Tangled Threads.

  3. I've read part of one of the books in this series. I'm not sure when or how, but I definitely remember reading about the assassin Spider... and it's killing me, because I know what I read was good and I have no idea why I didn't finish reading. Especially since I'm seeing so many good reviews about this one! Maybe I need to go back and read the rest? :)
