Burned by a failed marriage, former FBI agent Marc Rossi wants back in the investigation game with no emotional strings attached. Taking an assignment for his enterprising Angelino cousins, he heads to Northern Ireland to pry a key piece of evidence from a missing socialite-any way he can. But when the ice queen turns out to be warm, beautiful, and on a secret mission of her own, the job becomes a passionate reminder of what happens when duty and desire mix. The daughter of an infamous fugitive, Devyn Sterling has survived betrayal only to find that her mother has mysteriously disappeared. When her search uncovers secrets, lies, and threats, Devyn and Marc must trust each other when every instinct says they can't . . . and a terrorist wants to make sure they won't live to try.
The Guardian Angelinos Investigating Agency is back with a new case.  They are hired by Agent Colton Lane of the FBI to find Devyn Sterling.  She has traveled to Ireland and must be persuaded to return back to the US.  They aren't given a whole lot of information as to what she is doing there or why someone must bring her back.   Marc Rossi, who was introduced in the first book of the series, Edge of Sight, is given the task of bringing her back.  He plans on going to Ireland and using assets to get to know Devyn better, then work on getting her to leave.  There is much more to Devyn's story of course and the reader eventually founds out why she is in Ireland.  She is looking for her birth mother and knows that she is in Ireland at the moment.  Devyn was adopted and her life feels incomplete.  She feels that her life will have more meaning if she can find out more about her.  But the more she knows, the more danger comes into her life.  After meeting a handsome stranger that she is attracted to, Mr. Marc Rossi of course, she begins to realize that there is more to good ole mom that she previously thought.  She soon starts questioning Marc's motives as well.  How is that a man that she has never met, could know some of the things about her life?  She soon finds out and soon she and Marc are looking over their shoulders as their lives are in danger.

Now I gotta be honest on how I feel about Devyn.  She was just too naive for me.  She is overseas and lets her hormones get the best of her when she meets Marc.  She doesn't even know who this man is and gets into his vehicle.   I mean he sounds absolutely scrumptious, but still she's thinking with the wrong head.  Err...how do you say that saying for a female?   Well you get what I mean.   Marc on the other hand uses the right head and does what he sets out to do, until bullets start flying at them and they find out what is really going on.  He soon realizes that he feels protective of Devyn and does his best to keep her safe.  They learn more about each others past and soon realize that they are more alike that they thought.  They were both betrayed by their spouses and are trying their best to move forward and heal.  Devyn feels that she would heal better if...she got impregnated with Marc's baby!  YES!  The man that she just met and learns has been lying to her about why he is really there, she wants him to be a sperm donor.  She feels that if she had a baby her life would be better.  She even tells him that he doesn't have to be in her life!  Yeah, Devyn actually made me laugh a couple of times while I was reading her scenes.  I even laughed while reading a sex scene!  Yes me, the smut lover laughed!  There is even a scene where Marc is trying to save her life and all she can think about is having a baby.  Okay, that's enough.  I think you get that I'm not feeling Devyn.  Marc on the other hand I liked and it's not because he's a hot guy.  I loved when he spoke of his family and how he felt towards them.  He was also absolutely adorable at the end of the book and I think the Rossi and Angelino  family are a bunch of fun.

Received book from publisher for review.
Private investigator Vivi Angelino loves living life on the edge, but stepping into the shoes of a movie starlet to bait a serial killer isn't just a thrill . . . it's a ticket to the big time for her fledgling security firm. That is, as long as a certain risk-averse FBI agent stays out of her way-and out of her fantasies.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Colton Lang isn't above using his well-worn rulebook to stop Vivi's latest walk on the wild side. But when they learn her client is involved in something far more insidious than bad acting, Vivi and Colt must work together despite the electrifying attraction arcing between them. For each new clue is bringing them closer to a high-profile crime with a dark and deadly truth at its core . . . and a cold, calculating murderer with nothing left to lose.
Someone is murdering Oscar winning actresses in Hollywood and has been labeled the Red Carpet Killer.  The nominated actresses are scared for their life and that creates an unusual opportunity Vivi Angelino of The Guardian Angelinos Investigating Agency.  She has a striking resemblance to one of the nominated actresses, Cara Ferrari.  Vivi heads to LA to present Cara with a proposal of filling in for her and being her body double.  Colton Lang of the FBI has worked with Vivi and her company before and doesn't like this plan.  He thinks that it will be dangerous and advises Vivi against it.  But no one tells Vivi what to do, especially a man that she has tension with.  They soon find themselves working together again as Agent Lang is assigned to protect Cara, who is in fact Vivi.  This leads to some fun interaction between the two of them at times as well as place both of their lives in danger.  When this happens the both of them realize just how much they care about each other and if they are willing to take the next step and admit it to each other.

I had a feeling that I was going to like Vivi and Colton as a couple while reading book 2 of the series Shiver of Fear.  I could just sense the tension between them and you know what they say, opposites attract.  Vivi is fiery and likes to do things her way.  She skateboards and is a lot of fun.  I found her character refreshing and could see myself being her friend is she was a real person.  Colton is reserved and likes to abide by the rules.  He and Vivi bumped heads all through his book and I loved every second of it!  This lead to some hot scenes between the two of them that was downright scorching!  It's been a while since I've meet a couple like this that set the pages on fire.  I have to applaud Roxanne St. Claire for making the smut lover in me happy with their sex scenes.  She did a great job writing them and left me wanting to read more.  We also get to see some tender moments between them as the begin to fall in love with each other.  But they both have issues from their past that make it hard for them to fully give in and they are torn over this.  They soon realize that they both need to move on and just live their lives for today.  They really do make a great couple and I'm so happy how it all worked out for them.

There's more! Assistant Special Agent in Charge Colton Lang has been added to the Book Boyfriend list for his absolute hottness! You know that nothing makes me happier than finding a new Book Boyfriend to obsess over. Welcome to the club Colton!

Face of Danger had lots of mystery and excitement!   It was fun seeing Cara pretend to be someone else and Colton having to go along with it.  I am so happy to have read this book and can't wait to see what else happens next with The Guardian Angelinos!

  6. Thank you so much for these honest, funny, and thorough reviews. I really appreciate that you took the time to read, write, and consider what worked and what didn't. I'm especially pleased that Vivi and Lang's story worked for you, as it is unabashedly my favorite of the series, and maybe of all my books. Vivi stole my heart from the moment I first wrote her name, and her story was a fun and emotional one to experience. And Colton Lang...well, yeah the scenes got hot. I loved him, too.

Thanks so much and good luck to everyone entering the giveaway!
