Welcome back to another month of Sharing the Love!
This month's book is a little different than the previous months books because it's a YA book! I enjoyed it very much and thought the series was very good. This month's book is:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare!
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
City of Bones is book 1 in The Mortal Instuments series. I loved it and thought it was such an exciting book that I want to share it with 1 lucky follower! Follow the rules below for your chance to win:
- This contest is open to everyone! Book will be ordered thru Book Depository so if they deliver to you, you will get it!
- You must be a follower of my blog, Hanging with Bells!
- You MUST leave a comment by answering the following question: What is your favorite YA book or series?
- Include your email so I can contact you if you win!
- This is the paperback copy of the book.
One of the main characters is named Jace. He left such an impression on me that I added him to my list of book boyfriends! You will see his name listed under "Cougar Lovin" because he is a young one. I felt a little guilty putting him under the boyfriend list, but he's just so yummy. Ok, now I really feel pervy.
Good luck!
I don't read too much YA, but I loved Julie Kagawa's series - The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. I can't wait for her next one.

Of YA books available in English I have to say that 'the Darkest Powers' Trilogy by Kelley Armstrong is my favourite, but my all time favourite is 'Hasse Simonsdochter' (Hasse Simon's Daughter) by Thea Beckman, but that book is only available in Dutch (and maybe German).

Yay for spreading the YA love!!!! I really enjoyed this series. I'm actually in the middle of her new book, Clockwork Angel, which is like a prequel to this serie! It's really good!!! You might give it a go!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YA lit! The Hunger Games series is amazing. I loved Kristen Cashore's Graceling. Seriously Bells, you should check it out. I'd wager Po would become one of your boyfriends! I also like a lot of contemporary ya lit. I just finished The DUFF which was really good. Anything by Sarah Dessen or Elizabeth Scott. OH back to the paranormals you should give Beautiful Creatures a read too! Great book, the next book, Beautiful Darkness, comes out in October!
BTW, I already own CoB so don't enter me in the giveaway. I just wanted to weigh in on the YA suggestions! :)
The only YA book I've read is Going too far by Jennifer Echols. I've kinda steered clear of YA, thinking it wasn't for me. I absolutely loved the book and it opened up my eyes, so I am interested in giving any other YA a shot :)
ReplyDeletejune111@att.net
I have heard so much about these books and have yet to get to them. I would love to enter for this one. :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNow my favorite YA series... Well, I haven't read many of them since starting to read as an adult but I do enjoy them when I do get into them. But I think I might say Hunger Games or Inheritance by Christpher Paolini. Both are great reads, but a different field. :)
Thank you again!

ReplyDeleteI sooo wanna read City of Bones.
My favorite YA book series is Vampire Academy by the awesome Richelle Mead. That series has it ALL. Strong and fierce girls. Hot and yummy dhampirs. *coughDimitricough*
Then, I'd also like to add to my favorite books list "Nevermore" by Kelly Creagh. My goodness, that book is AMAZING. It's the first book of a planned trilogy, and is also Kelly Creagh's first novel. You'll love it. If you like Edward Allan Poe you'll definitely love Nevermore. And, to finish now, I think you'll add Varen (the male lead) of Nevermore to your boyfriend list. Yep. :)
