Review: Eternity and a Day

Title: Eternity and a Day

Author: Aline Hunter

Genre: Fantasy Paranormal -Shape shifter

Publisher: Loose ID

Author's website: Aline Hunter

Dreading the one night per tide he’s forced to travel between the realms, Draigen Eric Locke has only one desire on Samhain – to retrieve the fae transporting daemon relics through the realms and escort her to the Dark Court to face the sidhe king. When he mistakenly recovers the wrong fae, the dragon under his skin responds in a way he never could have predicted, and he discovers he’s found the woman destined to him by the Fates – his Chosen.

Runa Charon is an anomaly among her kind, the mortal offspring of a human and a fae. Unlike other sidhe, she longs to experience pleasure instead of pain, love instead of lust. Immortally strong but mortally fragile, she’s been sheltered all of her life. When the opportunity to meet a Draigen from the Otherworld arises, she can’t resist the temptation and travels to meet the man who will change her destiny.

Unlike other netherworld creatures, Draigen mate for life, choosing to follow the path of their beloved mate in this reality or the next. Knowing a future can only span one lifetime, will they settle for less than an eternity? Or will they be grateful for the gift of each day?

If you enjoy books about Fae, Dragons, Vamps, and Witches, then this book is for you. Aline Hunter has a lot of supernatural beings in this book and I found it fascinating to learn so much about them.

Runa is a mortal sidhe fae that becomes a victim of mistaken identity. Her sister steals an important artifact and takes off leaving Runa to deal with her mess. Eric, a Draigen, is on the hunt for Runa's sister and when Runa arrives to the location in her place, he snatches her and takes them through a portal to another world for her to receive her punishment. Once there, Eric is informed that he has the wrong person and that Runa will suffer her sister's punishment. He realizes that Runa is terrified doesn't want to leave her with the Fae Kin so he gives Runa the choice of staying or leaving with him. Runa chooses to go with Eric and this is when the story gets really good because Runa is Eric's chosen, his mate for life. Even though their people are enemies, they soon fall in love.

There are lots of awesome characters in the book that I can't wait to read more about. Each one of them brings something different to the book because of their different race and they are interconnected as well. I have gained a new book boyfriend and his name is Lucien! Lucien is a necromancer and oh so powerful! I love his parts of the book because they are exciting. There is also a cyclops in this book! I mean how awesome is that! Bernie the cyclops is a bartender in a pub that the Draigen brother's frequent. Here is a hilarious snippet from the book involving Bernie:

Turning her attention to the bar, she noted the cyclops was still observing but doing little else. What the hell was he, a sick one-eyed voyeur?

*Giggling* Oh Bernie you kill me!

I'm going to give Eternity and a Day *4* Bells!

I enjoyed this book very much, but, here is a little warning. It is chock full of info and lots of characters. It is not a book that can be read very quickly. I became easily confused and had to re-read certain part just so I can absorb the entire story. But it was well worth it because it is now stuck in my head and I am dying to read more and enter this world!
