New Releases for week of 5/18/10

It's new release time! Here are some items that are being released today:

Books

This is book 5 in the Vampire Academy Series. Here is what the book is about:

Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong... After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's-and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere. She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him... forever.

I have only read the first 2 books of this series and I kinda wish I had read the others. I remember Dimitri being real sexy. I might have to check this series out again.

Here is what A Secret Affair is about:

“The Devil was about to be tamed.” Her name is Hannah Reid. Born a commoner, she has been Duchess of Dunbarton ever since she was nineteen years old, the wife of an elderly duke to whom she has been rumored to be consistently and flagrantly unfaithful. Now the old duke is dead and, more womanly and beautiful than ever at thirty, Hannah has her freedom at last. And she knows just what she wants to do with it. To the shock of a conventional friend, she announces her intention to take a lover—and not just any lover, but the most dangerous and delicious man in all of upper-class England: Constantine Huxtable. Constantine’s illegitimacy has denied him the title of Earl, so now he denies himself nothing . . . or so the ton would have it. Rumored to be living the free and easy life of a sensualist in his country estate, he always chooses recent widows for his short-lived affairs. Hannah will fit the bill nicely. But once these two passionate and scandalous figures find each other, they discover that it isn’t so easy to extricate oneself from the fires of desire—without getting singed. For the duchess and the dark lord each have startling secrets to reveal, and when all is said and done, neither will be able to say which one fell in love first, who tamed whom, and who has emerged from this game of hearts with the stronger hand.

I love that dress on the cover. I included this book because I had read Mandi's (Smexi) fan letter to Mary Balogh and thought it would be nice to read one of her books. I'll catch this one at the library.

Music

Volume 3 of the Glee! songs is out. This is actually the deluxe version and it contains more songs than the regular one. Here are some of the songs that are on the deluxe version:

The deluxe version features fan favorites like "Gives You Hell," "Beautiful," "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and "Bad Romance," plus 6 exclusive deluxe edition tracks like "House is Not a Home," "Home," "Rose's Turn," "Beth," "Loser," and "Poker Face."

Lots of great songs on this CD!

Movies

This movie has a shmorgus board of stars! I heard it was all right so I'll be Netflixing this one.

This movie is about Nelson Mandela and the South African Soccer Team. I love Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. They are both great actors.

Well there were slim pickings again this week folks. But next week, so many books and great DVD's. I'll have them listed here so make sure you come back and check it out.

  2. A few things...

    1) You made me want to read the Vampire Academy books. I know I have a few of them in eBook, so I'll have to get started. Eventually. (You know how long my TBR list is!)
    2) The dress? WAY HOT. The book looks good, but HR isn't my cuppa. Lemme know what you think.
    3) Gleeeeeeeeeeee!
    4) I'm getting Valentine's Day strictly because it has Taylor in it. What? He's legal now.
    5) I really don't have any interest in this movie, but Matt & Morgan are fabulous actors, so I might see it. Eventually.

  3. RRR/Jules/#1-Your comment is cryptic. I'm not sure if it's meant to be bad or good. Your weird.

MamaKitty-I totally forgot Taylor was in it. I'll let you know if drool when I see him. It might be an automatic response after seeing Jacob's Abs so much. I don't know if I will see Invictus either. There aren't a whole lot of DVD's being released and I wanted to include it just in case someone else might be interested. I'll shut up now.

  4. I'm the only one who hasn't seen Glee yet, I keep hearing good things about it.

    When is Glee on?

  5. Thank you for posting reminders!!
It really took me a long time to get into the Vampire Academy books. Book 1 was a little chunky for me, but I guess all authors go through an awkward book 1 phase at one point or another. The writing got immensely better and I found myself plowing through the series non-stop.

If you liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer on TV and the House of Night series, Vampire Academy is a good fit. (East Coast Beach Wife sold me on the series!)
