Kate Andews is the original rebound girl. But she has had enough and has vowed to never be someone’s second choice again. Unfortunately, her undeniably intense desire for Nick Mancini is testing her best laid plans because Kate has carried a torch for Nick since high school– but she’s always been permanently in the friend zone.

Lately, Nick has definitely noticed Kate. Unfortunately he can’t get her to take him seriously. He knows he’s made some stupid moves in the past but he’s determined to get Kate to act on their obvious and mutual attraction. However Kate’s stubborn and she’s been hurt before, which means Nick will have to pull out all the stops in order to convince her he’s not the same boy she used to know, and she’s not second best… she’s everything.
In Fated we return to the town of Serendipity as two characters in the series get their chance to fall in love.  Kate and Nick have had their eye on each other for quite some time.  However, Nick once dated Kate's best friend Faith in high school.  He tried to rekindle their romance, but Faith had her eye on the main character of book one in the series, Ethan Barron.  Faith and Ethan fell in love in that book and are now together.  Although Nick didn't really notice Kate before, he does now and he loves everything there is about her.  He tries his best to ask her out on several dates, but each time Kate shoots him down.  She's afraid to give her heart to him because she thinks that he still has feelings for Faith.  It takes some convincing on his part and a little help from Faith to get Kate to realize that he's over Faith and only has eyes for her.

I'm giving Fated a rating of:

As always, I love revisiting Serendipity and am happy that Carly Phillips wrote the story for these two characters. I could definitely see an attraction growing between them and was hoping that they would be together. While Nick's idea of getting Kate to finally realize how he felt about her was a tad unconventional,  I'm glad she understood why he did what he did and allowed herself to be loved by a good man.  I'm looking forward to seeing who falls in love next in this wonderful town.

  1. I've got to give this series a try-I have the first one on my tbr pile, but there is just something about high school flames that I have a hard time with in contemporary romances.
